Do you have a source/proof for this?
To my knowledge the dps rankings were:
1. Ele 2. Guardian 3. Thief 4 or 5: Ranger and Warrior 6: Engi 7. Necro 8. Mesmer

Warriors are good in pugs for Phalanx Strength builds, which pretty much makes everybody have 25 stacks of might, and also banners of discipline and strength. Battle standard elite is useful in high level fractals for reving team mates quickly.
Guardians offer very good support with multiple ways to get vulnerability on enemies, blinds, aegis, and reflects.
Both classes have high DPS, but I believe Guardian is higher.
I would also recommend looking into elementalist, it is by far the most useful class in dungeons because of the versatility of the class. It has the highest damage of all the classes, can bring both lightning hammer(highest dps autoattack chain, with blast finisher as well) and frostbow(extremely powerful aoe, and stun). Elementalists can also block projectiles, produce 40s of swiftness with staff, and provide high might stacks as well as fury. There is probably a lot more that I am missing here as well.
Overall though, there will always be pugs with each class so just choose which one is more fun to play! Keep in mind that Elementalist and guardian share the lowest health pools in the game, with Elementalists in light armor and guardians and warriors in heavy armor. Warriors also have the highest health pool in the game.(With practice, its not that hard surviving with ele because of the versatility of the class)

This idea is AMAZING! Once I get a legendary(If I ever do) I could totally make a level 2 character and run around with twilight!
