you could try deleting the bin64 (or bin if you use the 32 bit version) folder from your gw2 install folder (usually C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2\). it contains the tp’s files and sometimes deleting them fixes issues with it loading. the game will re-create the files when it next loads, so it’s a fresh version.
No dice, but thanks for he tip, nonetheless.
Just got home, logged in and tried to check TP. It does not load anything, and there is no quaggan maintenance message. Can someone tell me if they are having the same problem or if this is a regularly scheduled thing? Thank you!
The instance creation server is down, meaning no new maps can be created.
Well, that explains it.
Oh, ok. Thanks
Glitched event markers in Iron Marches. Earlier, before reset, it was Mount Maelstrom. Both were/are the current daily event maps. The little orange starburst shows, but when you get there, no event. Not sure if someone has already mentioned this. it’s the first time I’ve ever seen it happen
Rewards are pretty good now. Wish the reward tracks went a bit faster, but I can deal. There’s just one thing missing:
Legendary WvW back piece please!
For the love of all the gods and little fishes, give us the chance to get one with our preferred method of play!
Are devs aware of the login issue? Seems a lot of us are getting locked out after returning to character select.
-Account wide harvesting tools
-Better overall bank/inventory organization (keyring, tonics, toys, etc.)
-More concise and organized crafting panel
-Customize-able UI (mainly ability to hide story text)
-Better privacy (ability to auto-refuse party invites, send an automated message when whisper is off or when set to ‘offline’ or ‘away’, add a ‘Do Not Disturb’ or ‘Busy’ status option)

I have had both DC as well as a complete client crash when trying to WP to Fields of Ruin. Both after restarting client and PC. Sent the crash report in.
Tried again just now, thinking maybe an hour had been long enough. Hit the WP in Fields of Ruin and the game completely crashed this time instead of just DCing me.
If you want to see real P2W, play most Korean MMOs. GW2 is certainly not P2W.
Yeah, I’m having the same issue. Decided to wait a while before trying again after realizing I lose my silver every time, lol. Every other map does seem ok, though. Too many ppl rushing the map for daily maybe?
Hrmm… I log in, but after WP to Fields of Ruin and being there maybe half a minute, I am booted again, then log back in in LA with the “WP has become contested” message. I have restarted client, but that doesn’t seem to work.
edit And I lose my WP cost every time I try. Think I’ll give it a while… lol

I have player names turned off in settings, but they show up in Wintersday JP. Is this a problem with the settings or a “feature” just there to make the JP more kitten annoying than it already amply is? I have character model limit set to lowest, and this JP is just making me want to kick a quaggan.
I know everyone is all busy polishing and tweaking things for Heart of Thorns, but I think Anet could greatly improve its overall player satisfaction, as well as avoiding the bad rep- that has already started spreading- as a company that does not address problems that are already present in their ‘finished’ product, and have been for quite some time.
Snowden Drifts comes to mind as a zone that needs some first aid. Twice in the past several weeks, I had to do the ‘Snowden Drifts Event Completer’ daily, which is extremely annoying, considering there are not many events in the zone to begin with, and at least two of them are nearly ALWAYS bugged and will not progress- Quaggan emissary escort and Ramsey escort. I’ve gotten used to just passing those by, as I’ve been playing for a while and have only seen each of them in working order ONCE, but it never fails that at least a handful of people are not aware of these bugs and will end up wasting time trying to figure out what’s going on. And that’s just not cool, considering that a lot of people have work or school and a very limited timeframe to get their dailies done.
Of course, Snowden Drifts is not the only zone that needs a touch-up, just the one that stands out most prominently to me, as it is often the subject of event completion dailies.
As I said, I know the teams are probably all working their rears off getting ready for Heart of Thorns, but if a little bit of time could be spared to eradicating some of these existing bugs, I think all of us would feel much more confident about the quality of the expansion.
Just my thirteen cents…
Wow, Anet… really? So I suppose this means you are taking all of the crap (boosters, dust, bird minis, etc.) out of the BLC and actually making the drop rate of BLKs tangible? I have bought the keys in the past- until I realized they were a complete waste of money.
And going hand in hand with this “increased” key drop rate, I sincerely hope we will see a lot less of this silly notion of mobs dropping NO LOOT! Honestly… what kind of game has mobs with no loot?! Are you trying to suck all the fun out of this game?
While I, like many loyal GW2 players, appreciate the candor, I have to say that it seems very strange that Anet cannot make any changes to the event at this time. It’s basically a toxic event with a few tweaks and different skin, and the toxic events are still around anyway. I think that some of the things players are begging for could be implemented, if it truly suited Anet. Sorry to say, but this whole thread kind of comes off like bread and circuses. “Yeah, we know it’s horrible, and we are not going to do anything to make it better, but here’s a designated place for you to complain so you feel better.” I truly hope I am wrong about that and our complaints really WILL be used to make events like this better in the future.
My suspicions aside, I will say that if you are using this event as a way to attract new players, you probably failed. No one wants to spend all their time running across a map- back and forth, over and over because they can’t afford WPs or don’t have them unlocked- just to get to an event in time to see the zerg wipe it out before they can get a hit on anything. If I was a new player and THIS is what my first impression of the game looked like, I would bounce. There are plenty of free MMOs out there that lock you out of everything and constantly flash the “buy the premium stuff to unlock” message in your face. This event gives a new player ZERO incentive to invest time or money on this game over those others.
Another thing that I found somewhat perplexing is the need for all the breaks in-between. While I can appreciate a break from beating my head against a brick wall for a toxic mantle so I can go do my dailies, I just don’t see the point in so many. If the event was going to go on for a month, then yeah, sure, have thirty minutes between each zone and an hour afterward. But when the event is this short… I honestly don’t understand how this is a good thing. There are a lot of working adults who play GW2 and they are getting the short end of the stick on this one. My husband just flat out stopped playing and picked up another game, he was so disgusted.
On the issue of tagging events and leaving… sigh. If you make the gold tier of completion impossible to obtain in the time limit allotted, people are going to ‘hit and run’. It’s not a matter of them being selfish or bad people- they just want to actually get something for all this wasted time and effort. By Anet making it more efficient to hit and run, they are inadvertently creating TONS of drama between players (as I am sure is fairly obvious on the forum). Granted, drama is nothing new here, but still, it’s not what this game, or its players, need or deserve.
Not my last beef, but a big one and the one I will end my wall of QQing on, is the fact that there is no exp/karma/loot. As for the rewards… I don’t think they are bad- I was actually really happy to see some stuff I had missed out on in previous events- but the time/payoff ratio is abysmal. I’ll say it again; If you’re trying to lure in new players- bad move. Even those of us with accounts full of level 80s like karma and coins, do you think it would be very fun to a newly created level 20 to grind these events out without seeing any reward whatsoever besides some blooms? And that’s not even touching the issue that even if they manage to get a lot of blooms, new players are never going to have the money to buy some of those shiny rewards in the amount of time this event is running.
Altogether, this has just been a very disappointing experience. It was poorly planned and poorly executed. If this is a foreshadowing of how HoT will be done, I think I will just save my cash.
So, this may not be completely appropriate for this thread’s current discussion, but it has been eating at me, so here it is. I’m not bashing anyone’s preferred style of play here. These are just some observations that I, like many others, have made over the past three years. And I pre-empt the guy who will inevitably say “QQ cry moar”, with a friendly reminder that it takes more effort to discuss things as an adult, so please don’t strain yourself.
If Anet wants to make gaining legendary armor a raid thing, fine. Go for it, and all you raiders enjoy your shiny loot- you earned it, and I say that without sarcasm. But in the meantime, why can Anet not offer some nicer incentives for WvW players too?
Raiders like to say that raid content requires skill- which it does- but remaining in the top tier of WvW certainly requires just as much skill. Hardcore WvW players will tell you that smashing two blobs of peeps together doesn’t cut it in the long run. World vs World is not, contrary to what some believe, a red=dead scenario most of the time. In order to stay competitive, you have to be strategic and learn to play your profession, improvise with that profession at times, coordinate with your commanders and complement your squad, etc… And might I add that, unlike instanced areas of play, one cannot keep running WvW over and over to get the timing and mechanics of the encounters down to a memorized science. You are fighting other players and no single battle is predictable. So, basically, you have to have skill to be successful.
That being said, why are the WvW adherents not getting equally rewarded for the skill they exhibit in their preferred method of play? These guys and girls are in those borderlands because they enjoy it, and the challenge it brings, because they certainly aren’t doing it for the loot.
They get no ascended crafting materials, no cool skins (some may argue that the skins available from tournament tokens are ‘cool’, but I certainly haven’t seen anyone wearing them), no chance at ascended or legendary back pieces or even just materials to make those things. They could at least have the option to spend their WvW currency on ascended mats or something. Seriously, I am sitting on so much WvW currency because the things you are offered are total crap in comparison to what sPVPers get and now, apparently, what raiders will get. Heck, they’re even less rewarding than mindless Silverwaste loot.
I remember a time, shortly after the game launched, that Anet made the comment “play your way” a catchphrase they used to promote the game. And that is a wonderful vision to have and promotes longevity if done properly. But lately, a good portion of players who are “playing their own way” (and not just WvWers, to be fair) are being pushed to the wayside.
It makes me King Arthur sad.
How to get Legendary armor outside of raids?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Thoehn.7460
Great… the elitist attitude of a great number of “raiders” that drove me away from WoW has finally reared its ugly head in GW2. No, not all raiders are like that, but a lot of them are, and it is just so annoying. They can’t stand it that someone not socially comfortable with nine strangers, or people in a very small guild might get something awesome in some other facet of gameplay… y’know, ’cause raiding is so obviously the only part of any game that requires skill and they really need other people to pay attention to how skilled they are, because they have a psychedelic glowing chestpiece that shoots fireworks.
I realize that there are some things I will never acquire in the game- like a legendary weapon. I make an ascended one and deal with it. Not having something is not what makes me dubious about this change. It’s the fact that introducing raids into GW2 is just going to introduce toxicity, elitism and drama. Some of the replies to this thread already make that pretty obvious.
I hope I am not missing something entirely with this bug, but I searched for similar issues and found nothing.
I have just encountered this issue today – 01/10/2013. On two separate characters running solo on two separate PVE maps, I tried to enter WvW via the top menu icon and the screen it pops up. The loading screen changed to the WvW screen and the loading icon in the bottom right corner spun for all of two seconds before stopping entirely. A few seconds after that, my game crashed with an error message which is shown in the attached file.
I was not guesting, nor was I in an overflow map, if that helps. I tried entering several different borderlands and got the exact same error. I have successfully entered WvW before, and there have been no changes to my GW2 installation or my PC hardware or settings.
Thanks!
—Edit—
Perhaps I should have posted this in the tech support forum instead. Apologies if that is the case, but I successfully entered WvW earlier today and, as I stated, there have been no changes to my hard or software since then.
