I assume at some point an assault match type like Fort Aspenwood from GW1 will return (and I can’t wait for it to), but I was thinking there may be multiple options here to play around with the assault match type.
My suggestion is doing a Left 4 Dead/DotA style assault in which, say, Blue Team defends a keep and gathers resources (much like Fort Aspenwood), while Red Team plays as the attacking Icebroods. Red Team members can pick from like three class archetypes: a caster, a defensive melee, or an offensive melee. Each archetype will have preset abilities. Also on the field will be NPC Icebroods that are easy to kill but add some strategy and chaos if used correctly.
The objective would be just like Fort Aspenwood: Blue Team gathers X resources in a time limit before Red Team kills a primary Blue Team NPC.
This is just a simple summary of this match type concept—not very in-depth into the mechanics. Others reading, throw in your ideas or concerns.
