happening to me too. server is prob overloaded with ppl d’loading the patch. hopefully it will pass soon.
Well, if anyone saw my earlier post, I tried running an external fan over the CPU in addition to my other fans and I have run GW2 for almost 4 hours w/o a crash. I don’t know why it runs my CPU temp so high when nothing else does, and even with the external it is still running 75-80C. This is far too high for long term health but apparently just low enough to prevent a crash. Going to get an uber cooling fan set for the system and try to get it down to about 65 or 70 if not less. Hopefully this info will help others too.
Was checking my temps and noticed that when I run GW2 my CPU, which normally runs at 50-60C, jumps to 85+C and stays there. I ran several other programs including all my 3D programs. Only one of them even comes close to that, 75-80C, and only when loading very large files. After the file is loaded it drops back down to 50-60C. My motherboard and GPU stay in the normal ranges regardless. I don’t think the problem is my CPU since it is only happening with GW2. Has anyone else noticed this on their systems?
Just for reference other MMO’s I run: Diablo3, Guild Wars1, Path of Exile, etc all run 65-70C, which is significantly less than GW2.

Still crashing. I’ve tried everything Anet has recommended, submitted all my logs, and tried everything people here have suggested. No go. I have been able to get it to crash less on windowed/windowed fullscreen but that’s minimal at best. One of the most annoying parts of it for me is that my son is running a similar system with the same graphics set, gtx 550 ti, on the same internet connection with no problems at all. Like so many others, I can run any other games without a hitch. I am a graphics designer and run many graphic programs, both 2d and 3d. The 3d programs put a much larger strain on my system than any game would, and I have no problems running these programs. It’s only gw2 that is having the problem.
I understand this is a new game and I know anet techs are very busy, and I have tried to be patient. But come on! Give us at least a decent status report on the issue. Even an honest “We’re stumped too.” report would be better than repeatedly pushing it back on our hardware/software. There’s just too many people with the same problem on too many different systems and setups IMO for it to be us.
Don’t know if this will help anyone else, but I started running in Windows mode, not Fullscreen Windows, just Windows. The game crashes much less in that mode, 15-30 minutes instead of 5-10. I even got just over an hour once before it crashed. Longest I’ve been able to play since launch. Most likely this is just a quirk of my system, and while it’s still horrendous, it’s marginally better.
Like everyone else here I am having the problems with crashes. When I can I faithfully send the error reports when it crashes. I have also sent along the log files to tech support. Looking at the log though, I noticed the majority of the entries were related to missing parent/bone/child, etc. This has to do with the rigging of 3d models. The internal skeleton works on a parent/child tree. If there are bad or missing links between the bones they can accumulate and cause crashes. Not sure if this means anything but it could indicate that the issue is not related to our hardware or drivers but with the game itself.
So I’m sitting in a 5 star restaurant trying to eat a perfectly cooked porterhouse steak, but I’m only allowed one bite before the waiter takes my meal away. When I ask the waiter why this is I am told I have to replace my fork. So I replace my fork, but the meal is still taken away after one bite. I ask the waiter again, and am told I need to replace my steak knife. I replace my steak knife, but the waiter still takes the meal away………. perhaps my silverware is not the problem.
Aradia, same problem here. Game crashes every 5-15 minutes. Usually I get the prompt to send an error report to Anet and must have sent a couple hundred or so. I am running 64 bit OS, with a Nvidia gtx550 ti chipset. Oddly, my son, running on the same internet connection, and also running the gtx550 ti chipset, has absolutlely no problems. In fact, I updated my graphics card specifically to get that chipset, hoping that would solve the problems. My system ran all the Beta events just fine, but has been crashing since launch. I’ve checked and rechecked my system many times, updated all my drivers to those recommended by Anet, and can find no problem on this end. I am seriously frustrated at this point. After waiting years for GW2, it is unplayable. Until the forums came back, I was certain there was a problem with my computer. But seeing all the other people having nearly identical problems I think the problem is with the game. I hope they find a fix or workaround for this asap.
