Wow – that totally explains it. Thank you very much for that research, I didn’t think once to test the radius.
Sucks though, because I really want that increased bomb radius in the build I do. I’m going to have to untrait it and see how it plays, maybe I can concentrate on being more accurate with my placement.
There are a bunch of little tweaks you can do with it as well…I think I’ve been through maybe 15 “builds” around the same concept over the past week. More damage/less survivability, more survivability for maximum kittenol value, etc.
It’s very fun to play.
Eh…does it not put damage numbers up then, like all other damage sources?
Bomb goes off, no damage number. That’s my experience. It’s not that the damage isn’t as strong as something else…it’s that there’s no damage.
I’d take that =)
I’m doing something that I think OP is looking for…
In short, my entire build is around the concept of not only charging into the middle of the bad men with the red names and dropping bombs all over the place for as long as possible, and not to just survive said bomb dropping madness, but to look incredibly cool doing it.
Here’s the basics:
10/0/20/20/20 – Forceful Explosions, Protective Shield, Energized Armor, Self-Regulating Defenses, Invigorating Speed, Kit Refinement, Speedy Kits.
Med Kit, Bomb Kit, Land Mines, Elixir S
Knight’s Armor with Adventurer runes (using a heal skill (which swapping to med kit counts as) gives you 50% of your endurance back every 10 sec).
Spam the crap out of both med kit and bomb kit. Swapping them back and forth gives you a bunch of stuff, namely runspeed and Vigor. Spam the crap out of dodge, because you can…each dodge drops a bomb and you can do this all day long because of Vigor and Adventurer’s runes. When your not spamming the crap out of med kit, bomb kit and evades, spam the crap out of all of your other bomb skills and your med kits mini-heal packages.
When health reaches 25% and auto elixir S kicks in, that’s your queue to gtfo. As soon as the auto exlixir kicks in, drop your other Elixir S, wait 4 secs (while you diddy-mao your way to the keep door) and hit your toolkit that goes with Elixir S for a little more diddy-mao action time. Don’t forget to keep spamming all that crap from above while you’re at it, because it’s a style thing. If you don’t litter the battleground behind you (and leave nasty little surprises for any of the enemy zerg who are trying to finish you) then you’re doing it wrong.
My typical anti-zerg fight is me jumping off the keep walls into the middle of the bad guys with the red names, spazzing out in the midst of them watching them run in all different directions, fly in all different directions (I love BoB) and generally go “wtf is this guy doing” right before a whole bunch of stuff explodes all around them, and then a trail of bombs leading away from the smokefilled battleground back towards my keep…me running up the stairs to do it again or right back out through the gate to give them an encore.
I rarely die, but when I do it is with a blaze of glory (and copious giggles).
I’ve done a lot of research here on the forums and elsewhere before posting this. I’ve seen one other person report this, and he was essentially told “no, you’re wrong, mine works”.
On evade while IN COMBAT, my Asura Engineer with Evasive Powder Keg does indeed drop a bomb, and the bomb does explode…but it does no damage. I’ve tested it as thoroughly as I know how…I spent two hours yesterday engaging mobs (single, multiple, big groups, etc), do nothing but evade multiple times for 30 seconds or so (with a little running around). I have managed to drop kegs that have exploded directly in the middle of a large pack of mobs that did absolutely nothing but make a nice little flash, some smoke and the explosion sound bite.
Not a single time in two hours did I get a powder keg to do damage.
Any ideas?
