But at the same time, they are doing the right thing by asking them to have perspective, and asking them to withhold their money in the first place. I’m one of the people that is upset about the way the HoT stuff is being handled and I completely agree with what they are trying to get across.

Frankly speaking A-Net’s marketing people have screwed the pooch. They didn’t coordinate a more widely seen reveal and additional information on the content to be included with the announcement of preorders, something no one should pay for anyways as explained above. They have done some mistakes with how they are approaching edits in the wake of the outburst, and if they don’t come out with a better response than the few curt ones delivered by the few A-Net staff that have decided to frequent the forums this issue is going to get much worse.

A-Net is being extremely generous towards new players with this, allowing them to enter in at a low price point, and giving them the chance to explore the game fully. They’re doing this because they need new blood to keep their game going strong, since the cash shop will support them as long as people come in to the game. I support this aspect of it.

That being said, I’m not prepurchasing. Not only because its a bad idea, but because their marketing team didn’t put in a simple addendum to the new game that would have made everything bearable and equivalent to how they treated gw1, give people that own the game a character slot. Every expansion (Actually full featured game) of gw1 came with enough additional character slots to allow you to have the new classes introduced in it. If they had kept that practice up at the very least there wouldn’t be the current outpouring of hate that there is from the more vocal members of the community.

Nvidia Driver Black Screen Crash

The only reason that I’m posting this in a different section than the current topic is because my issue seems to be different from theirs. They can still interact with Guild Wars 2 in some meaningful way when it crashes, I on the other hand can not.

I’ve been in all of the beta weekends except for the first, and in most of the stress tests, up until the last beta weekend I never had a problem with Guild Wars 2 and I was running it on medium settings with my old computer and having a blast. On the third beta weekend everything changed. I would be able to play the game for a variable time ranging from around 10 minutes to sometimes 2 hours before it would crash, cause my Gforce 9600 to freak out, and then make it so my monitor wouldn’t respond either. My Samsung monitor gets in to this little panic switch thing whenever this happens and constantly switches between analog and digital modes without ever displaying anything, while the sound kills itself and I can get absolutely no response from anything to my knowledge. Needless to say, when I saw the first response for how to fix this involved beta nvidia drivers i was skeptical, and it turns out with good reason since it didn’t solve it all. But since I figured that enough people had reported the issue you’d jump on it first thing after the beta weekend and it would be fixed by launch.

Turns out I was right, for a little bit. From launch until 9/7/2012 before you patched I have had no problems. I’ve made my way up to level 30 on a character, and had fun with my friends. But, as of whatever you did to your code last night these problems have returned in full force. Now instead of getting a variable time I basically get enough time to do one personal story section, or one heart, or one big event. That is it. I still get no response from my computer whenever it freaks out, and neither the temporary workaround you have stickied, or the beta drivers you have suggested have worked. Due to the nature of the crash I have I can’t even tell you if there’s an error code associated with it. I’ve searched through the forums and tried every bit of advice that I physically could, which was basically everything but hooking my computer up to the modem physically since that is impossible where I live. And I’m more than a little miffed by the entire experience.
