Anet is slowly killing their pvp game. They claim to be “pvp pros” and the game is said to have some focus on pvp.
But their priorities are all wrong. Why have tournaments at all while the game is imbalanced? Any of their recent changes have not really fixed anything, really just nerfed them for pve…
Guardian greatsword skill order change – only pissed off guardians and did almost nothing to fix retaliation duration. Just ruined some symbol builds as far as I am aware.
Ranger sb “animation” bug “fix” nerfed dps and added a new bug with quickening.
Mesmer skill duration nerf only worsened them for pve.
Thief pistol whip damage nerf made them less useful in pve and they can still spam it in pvp with haste.
The reason you see so many mesmers/thieves in spvp are they are easy to kill people with and they are hard to kill themselves.
The reason you dont see a ton [or games full] of mesmers/thieves in tournaments is because only killing doesnt win the game.
There is no more “meta” to adapt to. Things need changed because they are too good. Things were changed in the beta (huge changes) and people adapted. Burst (quickening) and defensive capabilities need balanced to a laughable degree for many specs – some more than others.
Now Arenanet is too afraid to make changes or not intelligent enough to SEE that there is a problem. Definitely not experienced enough to fix the MAIN problem the first time, if not intelligent enough to fix at all.
The “wait and see” approach has definitely failed.
Elitists and people in denial that play professions/specs causing all the problems can think and say whatever they want. It doesnt change the issues at hand. People at arenanet that think “balance is pretty good” – they are also wrong.
And yes my main is a Ranger from the beta, rank25 now
