Well I’d check your hardware first: make sure nothing is overheating, PSU is still good, etc. If you’ve got any sort of “factory overclocked hardware” like certain CPU’s will have a Turbo Boost feature or Nvidia Ti cards also have this, you may want to try disabling Turbo Boost and even underclocking the graphics card as both of these features have been known to trigger the black screen issue.
There’s a number of different things that you can try to troubleshoot this issue since there’s a number of different resolutions so we’ll start with this.
Also – wouldn’t hurt to try bypassing your router and connecting directly to your modem if you can. Seems certain routers and Guild Wars 2 don’t get along very well.
I really want to get this fixed ASAP since i can not do the Wintersday events. So if none of this works do i just submit a ticket or what should i do?
Also thank you for the help.
Hi Tivez – Are you experiencing two different issues here? You are getting the black screen in addition to a PC shutdown? There could be multiple issues here.
My computer shuts down like if you turned it off but it still stays powered on with the fan running etc. It only happens when I’m playing Guild Wars 2 and it happens everytime I go into a Winterdays map.
I’m not sure if it is my pc or the game itself.
So lately when I have been playing Guild Wars 2 my computer will shut down randomly. My screen goes black and all sounds disappears but my computer seem to still be on. The fans still runs and the computer light is still on. The only way I can turn it off is by holding down the power button. It might be my pc but it has only happened to me while playing Guild Wars 2.
It started happening a week ago but now everytime I go into Wintersday it shuts down my pc which is wierd because yesterday I tried out the Wintersday Jumping Puzzle without anything happening.
