OP – I like your name it suits you. How do you know that you are putting in the same amount of effort as others. How much recruitment have you done? how big is the guild that you run(I assume you are a GM as you are putting in as much effort as ppl who are)? how many hours do you play per week? do you use this time effectively?

My point is there is a lot more effort put in behind the scenes and turning up and playing for a few hours may not take the same effort.

Remember in life all things are not equal. I have a decent paying job. I work 40 hours a week and get rewarded substantially more than a lot of ppl who work the same amount of hours. I would say that ppl who do really hard graft probably have to put in a lot more effort than I do for less rewards.

Also computer games are mainly intended to be leisure/fun activities. Why do you feel the need to be rewarded for playing a game. This is another issue in itself. Why do players feel the need to get rewards for paying a game. These rewards will be inconsequential really. A finisher.. wow. holy moley I’m missing out on a golden Yak I may as well just slash up and end it all now.

Yeah but that is pretty much the same as contesting all the WP’s in the zone.
A mechanic that kills evry1 at the end would be good though. Seeing the map even more like a Christmas tree would be funny.

Another solution would be to instance the boss and have no WP in the instance but I know a lot of people are against instances. The ability to form large party’s would also be an issue for this. It seems some organised guilds are kind of instancing this fight already by getting into an overflow and stacking it with ppl who they want. That doesn’t solve the issue of immortal players though.

To be honest i’ll be interested to see if/how they introduce content like this in the future. The game isn’t really designed for large organised groups in PVE and this is their first real try at it.

The reason they need timers is because of endless respawning. In a fight where essentially all of the players are immortal then I can not see another way to mitigate this. They could possibly contest all of the waypoints on the map so when you are dead you are either rezzed or respawn elsewhere and are out of the fight. Could you imagine all of the forum QQ and chat rages that would occur should they do this though. It would be far worse than what it is now.

Even boss fights in other MMO’s I have played had enrage timers. Basically kill the boss in x amount of time or he enrages then 1 shots the tanks and evry1 else crumbles within seconds.

Unless the content suddenly becomes more difficult to the point where you can not complete it without ascended gear, ie a gear check boss in a dungeon, then I don’t see your problem. Nobody can tell what dps evry1 is doing so pugging shouldn’t make a difference. If you were solely a wvw player I could see your point but as you are PVE then this change should make no difference to you providing that you can already complete the content in exotic gear.
