DPS meter in game would be a "God Send"

There was (still is) a dps meter in gw1, namely in the form of “Master of Damage”.
A npc you attacked and where upon ending an attack session of 1 min (if i recall correctly) he informed you of your total damage, dps and peak damage etc.

That id support entirely, one localized npc somewhere where you could test your builds and see what theyre good for.

But a dps meter in instances or open world that monitors yours and other ppl around you damage like some ui window?.. no.. please, no thank you.

It does not work with outfits acording to dulfy.. Wich breaks alot of the purpose of it for me. Why did itbhave to be shoulders? And why not a trinket like a necklace or ring.. or even earring.. I got the cats shadow on an earring and the effect works on outfits.
Wonder how they reasoned. Removing a shoulderskin to add a bat effect.
Trinkets u dont see ingame anyway.. And one could keep the shoulders of ur choice. Or even outfit..

Such a letdown.. And its one more of many in the last couple day for me..

Remove duration from rise

U dont get it.. ive myself ran into the same problem runing a mm reaper.. suddenly they die due of their time limit and i get my kitten handed to me.. (zerk gear) wich sometimes kinda surprises me and i drop..
The last beta a few weeks ago worked flawlessly, as in their life scaled with minion traits. BUT.. the unlimited number of them was ridiculous, wich is a posibility if u have shouts traited in reaper..
The skill says up to 5 extra are spawned if there are that many mobs so a total of 6, so instead to add to that number why not replace the old ones with the fresh new ones if the “old” minions are still alive?
Kinda like a maximum number of that minion type would be 6 and if the skill cd is up and u use it again to raise new minions the old gets replaced if the total number would surpass 6.
That in it self would also trigger nova and what not u have traited..
so in short, they changed the functionality of that skill so it is much less useable than it was before, and can get u in nasty situations…
just my 2 cents for u.. :P

This is the old functionality of Rise, instead of the current 25 sec duration why not replace that with “maximum number of minions: 6” or the like?

So with all of this in mind it would be cool to carry on discussing around this area in much the same form as Nike has. Specifically brainstorming on top of the foundation of known systems and functionality. I do also want to point out that someone mentioned (sorry i forget who) the ability to potentially build forts etc and then gain new events, goals and rewards from them by protecting and nurturing your land. Wouldn’t that be awesome!?

I had posted the opposite where, for example, if centaurs took over a camp, they gain a foothold and their overall presence in the area/zone is increased. After a shortwhile they attack a new town from these footholds, and so on and so forth.

This wouldn’t necessarily be a zone-wide event, but simply the ebb and flow of one small dynamic event that could have the potential to be disastrous for friendly NPCs. It is up to the players to push back the bubble of enemy NPCs and gain back some towns.

Rift sort of did this, and quite well. The only difference was that these were timed events that would happen zone wide. Mobs would spawn and run rampid through the zone, not simply stand there, attacking and taking over towns. You WILL lose your quest givers and NPCs if you do not defend and/or defeat the footholds.

I would take a slightly different approach in GW2 and make this part of a simple small dynamic event of centaurs, or renegades attacking a town. If they succeed, their presence grows and they continue gaining control in the zone. But all of this derives from a small dynamic event tucked away in the system, not some big zone alert saying ‘Attention! Invasion!!’

When you first spoke of living world, this is the first thing that popped into my head. Thats truely a living world because it really does depend on us being active in zones, interacting with the system, protecting, defending, attacking. If you wish, tie in some rewards for holding the entire zone from enemy onslaught some how.

That sounds really interesting.
How would you propose it working during off hours when theres little player activity?
Ive sometimes ran across entire areas without even seeing another player.
Would it be scaling like todays events that can be done by one single player or would one have to wait till more people arrive?

And yes indeed! greataxes! they should be in this game allready!
Seing the executioner outfit on my toon makes me wonder.. maybe its coming!

Well if you like how the thread itself is developing then it might count as awesome..
As for the topic the criticizm of the living story content, I’d say its anything than awesome, on the contrary it leaves a lot to be desired.
If you people dont take all this to heart then I dont know what it will take.
I’ve seen excelent points made so far and sugestions on how to correct them in order to set this thing straight.
Lets hope it wont just stop at “Good feedback! we’ll consider it.” and then continue on as if nothing happened.

Personaly I would like to see a hammer over greatsword for necros.. or a sword maybe.

Btw.. I think its on its way.
Remember Colins speech about a month ago about the direction and general plans for second half of 2013?..
If i remember correctly he said some thing like “More weapon types to all proffesions” or something along the lines..

Yeah that and the coming asian release.

There is The crossing and Final Rest that i know of, to name a couple, still the cd on the marks is a bit long though but still very usefull.
Future will tell i guess if we get more weapon types or not.

That hammer is made for necros!!

No really.. necros lack a good aoe weapon and we only got 1x 2h weapon available to necros the hammer would be a perfect alternative, well sure, the staff is kinda aoe if mobs realy group together.
As for looks, it looks good on them as well and u can make a beefy necro toting a 2h melee weapon as well without looking out of place.

One thing id give a lot for is an Aatxe as an alternative to the flesh golem.

I like the horn design.. but the eyes?..
Looks like its an atempt to introduce manga style eyes size into the game.. now that crap doesnt have NO place in gw2!.. IF theyre aiming at that that is.. if so i dunno..
Then i loose faith in anet completely..
please.. please correct her eyes make them smaller like the standard charr around becouse that alone makes her butt ugly, and somewhat breaks the game. somehow.. at least for me..

I dont know if this have been up yet but here goes.. An option to see ur guildies on map as dots just as u do when ure in a party seing the light blue dots woul be very handy.. how about that?..
