I was able to bypass the connection error frenzy by copying over a year-old game install folder (Gw2.dat and Gw2-64.exe) from my laptop and using that instead of attempting a fresh client download.

In my case, the old launcher updated itself and managed to finish downloading the remaining game files. It’s now playable.

Probably not very helpful for you guys, but it does seem like the problem lies with attempting a fresh client download.

Absolutely atrocious change. For the love of the gods, change it back.

So about that ticket....2100 later..

Well, I’ve received my first ticket from the regular dragon coffers after opening about 800 or so… 300 from regular play and 500 bought directly off the trading post. I consider myself lucky, frankly. I was resigned to the prospect of not getting a ticket, since I’ve never been deemed worthy by the illustrious RNG to receive any of the other account-bound skins in all my time of play since pre-launch.

The gem store gambling boxes are, of course, extremely slimy and I really hope people learn their lesson to stay the hell away from them.

Yeah, Yak’s Bend is a great WvW server. I spent a good long while there during the months of free server transfers, and though I did eventually migrate back to TC before free transfers ended, Yak’s will always hold a special place in my heart. In particular, I’d single out Rheayas and Spetrix as excellent commanders, though I don’t know if they’re still active.

But anyway. If I’d be anywhere else, it’d be Yak’s. (Honestly, there are days when I’d much rather be on Yak’s. TC’s a great community, too, but the WvW is very crowded and zergy.)

In 600 hours of playing open world with 100% map complete I’ve had two exotics drop from enemies. Both came within minutes of each other on the day of the mid November patch. “Hey, this patch is great” I thought. Now, not so much…

I’ve had an almost identical experience. The one and only open world exotic drop I’ve ever had occurred in WvW, shortly after the November patch — which purported to improve loot drops acquired in WvW. Needless to say, my luck did not hold.

The diminishing returns mechanism is punishing, especially for slow, methodical PvE players who enjoy exploring and more relaxed wealth accumulation.

The devs have publically stated that the vast majority of botting activity has been eliminated. I would implore them, then, to rid the game of the DR mechanism. At this point, it hurts only legitimate players and, as others have said, makes the game a tedious and unrewarding grind.

When I started the game and was farming Orr, loots were nice: I was seeing yellow very often, green were very common and I had a large quantity of blue. It lasts for weeks/months. Then, one day, I didn’t drop yellows anymore. it was rare for me to see a green. Then I started fractals. Drops were nice, I was seeing yellow often and green were very common… It lasts until fractal 9-10. Then one day, I didn’t drop yellow anymore and it was rare to see a green. Then I started CoE, I was seeing yellow often and… Same story again. But when I came back in Orr, it was still full of porous bones and 2-3 blue…

This has been my experience, too (i.e., the DR mechanism seems to persist beyond reason).
