There aren’t really any settings or things to mess with to try it out. Let it run overnight to download, then you’re good to try it out. It either works well enough, or it doesn’t.
It seem like it’s less stable in WvW lately, but that could just be more obvious because of the teamings making the maps busier. An enemy zerg comes over the horizon, the client desperately tries to load all the assets needed for each enemy player, and sometimes it crashes out, sometimes it doesn’t.
They removed armor repair costs a while ago, so the cost of crashing (gold/time-wise) is less.
Delete the app in Applications, and the folder in (Your user directory)/Library/Application Support/Guild Wars 2.
I believe that’s it.
If you are trying to do a reinstall, you might consider saving/moving “/Applications/Guild Wars 2.app/Contents/Resources/transgaming/c_drive/GW2/Gw2.dat” and moving it back over so you don’t have to re-download the entire 28GB of game data.
It ran for a bit then froze up and after force closing, I had to restart and am back where I started. I’m suspecting this may be a hardware problem.
As a side note, before you start deleting thing, make sure to move Gw2.dat from “/Applications/Guild Wars 2.app/Contents/Resources/transgaming/c_drive/GW2” to your home directory. Then tart trying to delete and reinstall. When it is actually running properly, close the login/updater, then move the dat file back so you don’t have to download 20GB to play.
Looks like I got it running through some baroque combination of uninstalling, deleting the Application Support subdir, rebooting, and running repair… no idea.
When I start via double-clicking the app in Applications, it run briefly then exits (judging from CPU usage in Activity Monitor.)
I tried moving the old app and re-installing. I tried deleting the folder under ~/Library/Application Support and reinstalling.
When I run the repair command on the terminal (“/applications/guild\ wars\ 2.app/contents/MacOS/cider —use-dos-cwd C:Gw2 -- C:\\GW2\\GW2.exe –repair”), it runs briefly, then exits with the error:
wine client perror:0×0: write/writev: Bad file descriptor
If I move the old app back and delete the Library/Application Support dir, then the client seems to start-ish when I run repair. The login window appears but with no graphics in it and a bunch of cider Warnings:

After killing the app and attempting to restart GW2, I haven’t been able to reproduce the partial start. I’m back to just getting nothing (starting from the app) or the bad file descriptor error (running on command line).
I tried rebooting and re-installing to no avail.
