I expected the chest to be crappy, because the WvW rewards are inevitably crappy, but even so I thought the chest was terrible. If the goal is to drive new people to participate in WvW in order to keep that particular game mode active and thriving, they failed completely. The rng nature of the reward just salts the issue, as ever.
I’m curious how this plays out with the new map. It’ll pull even more people out of the borderlands, leaving what, exactly? The pool of people willing to WvW on a regular base is pretty small, and bland, underwhelming rewards like the Season 1 chest do nothing to reverse the gradual decline in interest.
I’d love an invite. I’ve done multiple attempts on my server, but we’re just not up to do it consistently. I don’t want to run Teq again with a bunch of afks on the platforms. I just want to do it right and get it done. And then do it again.
I’m continually surprised at what a poor job Anet does in presenting info to the players.
Take the Twitch thing, which is the source of all the AOE nerf angst right now. Because there’s no central link to the stream (like, here in the News/Announcements section of the forums, or on the GW2 homepage, or on the launcher) there’s no reference point for players. Some people will have seen the broadcast, others will have heard about it. Misinformation will abound, leading to unhappy players with no way to check their impressions against whatever it was Anet actually said. (Not that what Anet said isn’t cause for unhappiness or confusion, just that everyone is better served by being confused or unhappy about actual statements rather than imaginary ones.)
It also contributes to a sense that Anet isn’t communicating, because when they do communicate, they do it in various ways in various places and never consolidate it back here, where players go to find info.
Go figure.
I’d like to see wargs too.
I also wish they’d redo the hog/boar F2 skills. As an example: Squeal – makes the target run in fear.
