My main was an ele but found the survivability lacking, I had to work a lot harder with the ele to get anywhere in wvw. I got frustrated and leveled a mesmer and have never looked back. I now have a chance in ww and actually win some duels. I only use my ele for crafting and until the ele has some major changes that’s how it will stay.

Just wanted to say thank you Natsu for sharing this build :-) I rolled a mesmer after being disappointed with my Ele in wvw. I leveled 80 with my mesmer last week and finally got the gear for this build, my stats are almost spot on with yours. I have chosen feedback instead of veil as I wanted the extra damage and the added frustration it gives attackers!
I went out with my mesmer last night and did a bit of soloing along with the usual zerg…I got to say it’s awesome. I won all of my 1v1’s last night and almost won a 1v3 until another 3 enemies came along. Also I have found I get more kills in zerg’s than I did with my ele. I can now roam solo with a certain amount of confidence…something I couldnt do with my ele.
The great thing about this build is that the clones provide a distraction along with applying conditions and quite a bit of the damage comes from the attacker themselves. The only thing I have a minor gripe in this build is the lack of health….so I may swap some rabid items with carrion items but as I said its only a minor gripe.
I’m looking for this recipe too…..anyone have any ideas ?
I had similar trouble lvling my Ele, most I could take on was 2…3 or more and I had to run. I am now lvling a mesmer, I took on four mobs last night and had no trouble, something I couldnt do with my Ele.
I noticed that the conditions put on you hardly lasted anytime or were removed……what build do you have to do this ?
I started GW2 with an Ele, which played for about 8 weeks, lvled to 80 within about 10 days and started playing wvw….imo the only viable build in wvw in staff, I have used s/d, d/d which was i struggled with. I got fed up with having to work 3 times a hard to get any results.
So I switched to mesmer and love it! I won’t be going back to Ele until anet fixed the class. I think for fun part of the Ele such as attunement swapping and having access to 20 skill as opposed to 10 is great but for longevity you will find the the Ele in its current state is lacking and you will get more success with mesmer.
The great thing about the mesmer is there are loads of builds which are viable despending on your play style. With Ele you have limited choice of viable builds when it comes to wvw.
Hi all,
I have joined the ‘Mesmer Gang’….having been an Ele for 2 months. I wish I had chosen Mesmer when I first started! I love the fact that there is a choice that so many builds are viable and you can adapt for certain situations! Ele’s are pigeon holed at the moment so I wanted a class that is versatile and has success in various situations.
Looking forward to visiting this forum a lot more often :-)
Cheers.
+1 ^ ….cmon anet…need this fixing :-)
I have been in exactly the same boat, I have played an Ele for 2 months, but found survability lacking….I mainly play pve and WVW…..in wvw I mainly play staff as I get the most success with it. I have tried d/d and s/d builds but I find roaming/solo in wvw a disappointment as I always end up downed. I’m sure there is a l2p with my ele but I just feel that I will have to work 3x as hard to have at least a chance….thats not what i want from this game. I find I am having to heal more or less straight away before I can do some decent damage.
I have started to level a Mesmer and looking forward to using some of the popular builds that are being used :-) I can see why the Mesmer is so popular!
I do love the ele profession but at the moment it will be shelved and will only use it for crafting…until anet decides to pour some love into ele’s (not gonna hold my breath).
Ele is the only class in this game I truly enjoy playing. It has the most interesting mechanics, as well as some of the most challenging as this game is fairly simplified in that area.
If you enjoy it, yes it is worth it. If you are just looking for something strong to play, no, pick something else.
VoilĂ .
Eles are just simply the most stylish class. Even with the lowest HP, lowest armor, and lowest DPS, they still go into melee beautifuly. And THAT is the essence of a true warrior. We get nerfed because we’re just awesome.
Because you called Ele’s awesome…we are about to get another nerf!!
……get to see the Rata Sum Emmissary now ? I wanted to get the Recipe for the Superior Rune of Perplexity. Can he still be found in Divinity’s reach ?
Cheers.
ah ok thanks, I’ll take a look….anytihng to make life easier :-)
HI All,
I have been playing GW2 and an Ele for 7 weeks, I still have loads to learn but one thing I am trying to get my head around is how quickly some people use Lightning Flash. I have just watched a vid where a player instantly clicked LF and blinked directly in front of the target, but from what I can see he didnt need to place the cursor on top of the target location….how is this done ? See here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ex7Bt8faeBQ …..at around 25m 50s.
Is there an option, which I might be missing to LF to the targets location without having to place the cursor ?
Any help is appreciated :-)
Hi all,
Totally stumped as I’m trying to find out how you craft, obtain etc a Superior Sigil of Battle….can’t see a thing on the web about how you get it….whethers its from crafting or a drop etc.
Cheers.
