What about going with a FM2 w/ A10-5800k APU and buying a GPU to crossfire?
(edited by Uberperson.1624)
Hello everyone, I am looking to upgrade my rig and wanted to get some advice before I got started. I have been reading the forums and finding that GW2 does not run as efficiently with certain products.
Current parts I already own:
Mobo: ASRock M3A770DE AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard
CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 265 Regor 3.3GHz Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor ADX265OCGMBOX (OCD to 3.8GHz)
RAM: G.Skill 4GB
PSU: RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-530SS 530W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817152028
HDD: SSD Crucial M4 64GB
GPU: EVGA 8800 GTS 512
Case: Rosewill CHALLENGER Black Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case.
Okay so that is my current rig that I built back in early 2011. I am looking to upgrade and want opinions. My budget is $500. Now I can either stick with my mobo and just go for Phenom II X4 Black Edition 965(possible can get for free or really cheap from friend) and buy a bit more ram and use the rest of my money of a GPU, or should I just invest in the following intel setup with my current old GPU.
($370)
MOBO: MSI z77a-g45
CPU: i5 3570k or i5-2500k
RAM: another +4 gigs matching my old ram (ddr3 1600 gskill)
CASE/GPU/PSU: use old components.
I am a poor college student, I have looked into the charts on tomshardware.com and other places and know that intel blows amd out of the water when it comes to GW2 and many other games. But overall I want the best balanced system I can afford. I also know GW2 is very CPU heavy, so i am kind of lost and need advice.
TLDR: Use $500 to upgrade current amd AM3 system components CPU/GPU/RAM, or use $500 to buy i5-3570k + mobo and use old GPU.

Quick question Yannick of Avo, what kind of fps do you get and with what rig? I have a similar Graphics card so was just wondering. Thanks.
Was playing last night and thought this would be an excellent idea. Because the range on scorpion wire is not crazy I think it would be a nice added bonus.
The idea would be that if an ally was downed, a thief using scorpion wire could pull the downed ally to themselves and potentially save someone
