I’ve noticed that Smite spreads damage when there are multiple foes inside of the ring. Which bothers me since its an AoE, so it should perfect for clusters of enemies. Instead it just slaps one at a time. Also, I’m starting to believe that the individual fists are what count for damage, meaning the player has to be hit by a fist to take damage. May explain why people are reporting less than 15 hits in ideal situations. So would this be a sort of projectile AoE that stops the moment it hits something?
What did the Risen say to the homeless person?
“EVERYONE. BUM.”
A Norn, an inventor, a drunk, and a marksman enter a pub.
He has a drink.
How many Risen does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
None, they pull everyone else towards it.
I like what you said, Jack. However, I’m cautious about number 2. While I can be diverse and go Sword/Torch with Rage runes, won’t people prefer the Guardian that’s got a GS that’s ripping kittens everywhere? Same for staff, wouldn’t they prefer that one Guardian giving buffs that last a lifetime? I personally like zipping around with Flashing Blade and Judge’s Intervention, but I don’t know if it’s really all that useful. I sorta feel shoehorned into the whole GS/Staff archetype for PvE. How do we really know who is the better Guardian? I can say I’m the best but I really couldn’t tell you how aside from how I use my skills (Hint: Poorly).
Good thing I have my Ele and Engie that are just tons of fun :v
I’ve only thrown 124 rares into the forge since I’m not made of money and am pretty cautious about gambling. I love the data you’ve gathered Spooky, makes me think twice about getting my legendary in the near future :p
An interesting concept. Dunno about a HM overflow server since I personally think its a bit of a waste of server space, but I don’t see any other way to do this other than restrict it to dungeons. However, what would be the incentive beyond harder mobs? I know challenge is a nice spice for some people, but I liked the Vanquishing aspect back in GW1. Better drops, more money, and a possible move towards VQ titles.
Could add mobs that have a constant minor Quickness boon to make champion tells less obvious (Champion Ettin for example).
Armor reduces incoming damage by a set amount (I believe it’s directly subtracted). Both magic and melee fall into this category. What ignores armor are conditions, which goes right for your Health, and any skill/spell that directly states this.
Honestly, I really think the Asura are pretty vicious when it comes to the pursuit of knowledge. See how vehemently Zojja hunts down Kudu and how bad she wants him dead? He’s merely using Snaff’s work in his own diabolical, yet logical ways. Doing the unethical allows for greater advances at the expense of others, typically lives lost and all that. Is it so wrong that he’s using what he learned from Snaff in his own way? Yes his methodology is cruel and unethical, but he is acting upon the wishes of the Asuran people: To conquer the lesser races. He’s merely seizing the moment (Everytime I want to buy baking powder…) instead of waiting for the moment.
And you have Zojja who wants to rip his brain from the stem. She perceives Kudu’s use of Snaff’s knowledge as pervasive and demands for his death. It would seem that it’s very Hammurabi-esque IE “an eye for an eye”. Kudu and the Inquest perform unethical and questionable operations in furthering knowledge, which you can see causes environmental damage and loss of life. Zojja deems this unacceptable and demands his head, showing that she is the other side of the coin; your typical scientist that stays within the ethical boundaries of reality but doesn’t want a study being used in X direction and therefor will do whatever they can to stop it.
I can see both ends of this argument really. I really admire Kudu in his “I dont give a flying cat” attitude, but at the same time uncomfortable in his attitude in regards for the lives of others. Asura can be really violent, but they really don’t care as long as it plays into the grand scheme of things or their experimentation.
Honestly, I would think it would be a counter to multiple hits that don’t chew more HP away than damage dealt back. If you see a Warrior using Frenzy and HB (they’ll be swinging at turbo speed), you can retal if you want, but you’d be better off not bothering. Warriors will chew through you. If some ranged folk want to pelt away at you rapidly, retal would ward them off (Granted it isn’t another Warrior). I would think Protection would help ease damage received, but won’t that affect damage dealt back as a result?
My only complaint is how it doesn’t really feel legendary to get lucky from throwing money into a fountain and praying it spits out a precursor. I understand that the traditional methods of getting unique weaponry held by legendary figures are also luck, but it just felt great to strip them of their weapon and wield it in your own hands. Or to take pieces of an artifact lost long ago to create something powerful and extraordinary. Here you have to play the gambling game until you finally get the blasted thing.
Getting everything else in the meantime is simple, you just don’t think about it. Its the precursor that defines the rest of your farming adventure. I’m bad at making money and playing the TP, but I’ll still manage to toss in 4 rare X every so often. I’ll eventually get it but it just doesn’t feel like I’m really gearing towards a legendary. At least I have my Juju.
The dungeons are a right pain in my rear though.
I honestly was using it as both “keep it up at all times out of habit” and “oh god, its shooting a billion times at me, better use Wrath.” I can only assume they want Retal as a more skill-based idea rather than a “mash X/Y/Z for free damage” thing.
The whole redesigning of the GS is not so much a bad thing as it is unneeded. On one hand, we’re forced to play by this new design without having another say in it, which is a huge wag of the finger honestly, but its their game so we play by their rules. On the other, it’s nothing more than simply remembering key combinations. So it changed, change sucks, but we adapt.
If they really wanted to change how retal was being used, they’d change the skills and the traits to reflect this. If anything, anet is testing the waters with this change and, as they can see, it’s a mixed case of lukewarm and lava font.
