I’d like to propose two possible upgrades to the wardrobe system that I think everyone would appreciate:
a) Make all the consumable skin items in the game (like the molten jet-pack or fractal weapon skins) convertible into free charges for that skin in the wardrobe. Just as you can convert skins into PvP items currently, you’d be able to convert them to one free use from the wardrobe for later (freeing up some inventory space in the process). Think of it the way limited use finishers work now.
b) Add the account reward skins (like the Zenith weapon skins and all the Hall of Monuments skins) to the wardrobe as unlimited use skins, and save us the hassle of having to get new consumable skins every time we want to use one. Again think of it the way unlimited use finishers work now.
These two additions to the system could be also useful later as a means to reward players for their additional invested time into a certain part of the game. For example lets say a Living story achievement chest gives a new back item skin that we can add to our wardrobe for one free use. That achievement could then open a longer but repeatable version of it, which upon completion rewards more uses of that skin, or perhaps even an unlimited uses version. Also dungeon vendors for example could sell an unlimited uses wardrobe unlock for the skins they offer for a much higher cost of tokens, like 5k for a full armor set or something.
I’m sure such a system could have the potential to add more value to many aspects of the game, but these are the things I could come up with on the fly right now.
+1 if you’d like something like this in the game. And also if someone has ideas to improve upon this or the wardrobe system in general, I’m sure everyone here would be interested in them as well.
Only want to play this for the achievement which is going to be very hard.
> Random noobs
> Keep being put in groups that have already lost half the dolyaks.
> Join one and before 2 others joined 1 dead dolyak.Sucks
You could do what I did, and stick it out with one team whatever happens. And when it ends you’ll be there from the start of the next game, with people who did a run with you already. Maybe some will leave but with a bit of luck you wont have problems if you do everything right from the start.
To be honest I can’t fathom what the people that approved this were thinking.
It’s supposed to be a tower defense game where you survive waves after waves. Simple and fun. You get rewarded after every wave, if you make it to the last one, great, if not no biggie. That’s what they were thinking.
If it wasn’t for the achievement, no one would care this much if they finish all 10 waves or not, and if it’s with all 5 dolyaks or not.
Having played Guild Wars 1 I would have sworn that A-Net was one of the best game designers in the world, but this company, as it exists now, isn’t very good at what they do.
Wow, and all this because they didn’t make one activity perfect on the first try? Who are we to decide that a game company can’t make small mistakes too at times? They are only human.
In my opinion the one and only real reason why people are upset about getting in already running games is the achievement.
Sure, it would be fun to do with a group of friends too. And I hope they’ll implement it at one point. But I seriously doubt that this one activity would be a game breaker for any reasonable person.
Only real problem I have with it game design wise is that it takes too long to complete, and the pause between waves isn’t enough to do anything. It needs some more balancing.
And the achievement and dead doylak problem could be remedied easily as well by resurrecting all of them after each wave and giving out points for every good wave, as I’ve stated before already.
It’s not that big of a deal as most make it out to be. We have 5 versions of the dungeon we can do with a party, and one version of it we can’t. Sure, it’s the version with the most potential for fun, but still… Not to mention that it’s all part of brand new content that we’ve been receiving constantly since launch day, for free!
Random people or not it can still be done. The only thing that sux is having the bad luck of getting in groups that have lost dolyaks already.
I have nothing against this matchmaking system. It’s very easy and fast to get in a group at least. In future though such and similar activities should be doable both ways.
You’d be able to choose to go at it with a random group, and with your own team as well.
Also, activities that need longer time to complete should be split up in more fragments, and reward achievements for completing them flawlessly one by one.
So in toypocalypse this would mean: every time all dolyaks would survive a wave, you’d get points toward the achievement. The dead dolyaks would resurrect after each wave, hence starting every wave with a full set.
It would require a bit of balancing but this way people wouldn’t leave only because one died, and it wouldn’t be a problem either if someone had to leave mid game, because it would only have an impact on the current wave.
How about some more constructive criticism instead of only whining?

My thought exactly! It’s ridiculous really what I have to go trough every time I want to switch a staff for two daggers between fights for example. Not to mention that by having no weapon swap slots elementalists have less inventory space. Sure, only by a little but it’s still true.
If every class can equip two weapon sets and swap between them with a push of a button, same should be possible for elementalists as well.
Only difference should be that they wouldn’t be able to swap while in combat.
Man I almost forgot about that, I haven’t played too much in norn areas yet, luckily I guess, but I recall it from dungeons and fractals too of course. It’s exactly as you describe it, and it is in fact mind-numbingly annoying!

I think it’s a good idea, since there’s really no other way any game company could afford to put in different voices for all the possibilities. Having a different voice for every personality of every profession of every race is just too much work and money.
But voice packs could be a good work around, as long as it’s done correctly and is big enough. Even I would buy one, and I never buy any cosmetic items in game stores!
It should contain everything from dialogue to battle and skill shouts and emote sounds. And the possible new commands as well if they ever get in the game.
First I want to say that GW2 has great sounds all around, and I love a lot of them! But then, there are the few things about it that are just wrong. And this is one of them…
When in a battle, especially bigger ones where more people are attacking the same target, most of the time the whole fight consists of nonstop sounds the foes make. It’s like they cry out in pain for every single hit they receive (uhh, ohh, argh…) And it only gets worse when they have conditions that do damage to them!
It gets irritating very fast, and even more so on certain types of enemies, like centaurs or female bandits for example. I can literally feel their pain in my head by now.
I hate playing games with no sound but this and the other maddening sound issues mentioned in other posts already (like looping NPC banter near vendors and crafting stations, and some people constantly spamming “For great justice!”) will in fact drive me crazy.
So please fix this issue, it is rather important!
I came to the realization pretty fast how important sounds are in a game you might play for hundreds of hours. And more so if they are not done correctly or are glitchy in any way. There is a reason after all why people have resorted to using sound as an effective way of torture as well. Of course I’m exaggerating, but I got the feeling that if this keeps up, a few more months and I won’t be.
