ArenaNet I think you need to check your security

I work in IT as a database administrator and I understand how a little prevention and preparation in the realm of security is paramount. Like I said, the problem is most likely not on my end and I think it wouldn’t hurt ANet to look into it.

I’m at a loss to understand how these d-bags in China keep getting my login information. I’ve changed my email and password 3-times now to something unique for this game and reinstalled my OS just to be certain I didn’t somehow pick-up some nasty keylogger or virus.

Being a homeowner and family man, I am very careful in my internet practices and I believe in fair-play and would never support sites that sell gold since I realize that it all comes from stolen accounts anyway. I am fairly certain that the problem isn’t on my end.

A-Net, it wouldn’t hurt for you to check your security to be sure that there isn’t some sort of security hole allowing these guys to steal our information. We wouldn’t want you to become the next playstation network.

Only it makes no sense, no where have they said there won’t be an end-game, they just stated that the content will be good from the start. a persistant MMO still requires the end-game…….

They’ve elaborated in some detail their ideas about what “endgame” means to their design vision — right here: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/the-endgame-reimagined/

You do realize that post is very new. No one bought the game after reading that post and reached lvl 80 yet. All the news actually going into detail about their shell of an endgame is brand new.

That post is new, but it was clear during the development phase that the endgame wasn’t going to be endless progression, but was going to be like Guild Wars was: easy stat capped gear, PvP, grinds for vanity looks, and the new element of DAoC W3. This was certainly very clear to me. Had the game instead had the typical MMO garbage of endless stat progression and gear castes at the endgame I would have been quitekitten because that isn’t what Arena had told us all along about the endgame.

Im sorry what is garbage about a good structured end-game with dungeons that are actually fun not zerg fests? what is garbage about structured reward systems that are actuall nice not farm 1500 tokens translating in 3XX boss kills in the same singular instance, whats garbage about having fun loot drops?

you people really don’t think these things through. whats garbage is grinding 1000s of mindless materials in a game that tries to stop you grinding/

whats garbage is dungeons that have very little thought into them, just the horrible chaotic diablo III mentallity (insane damage and health on all enemies that barely do anything of interest) and waypoint boss running (lame and skilless)

Whats garbage is a good pvp system not backed up by the neccesary skill ratings and statistisc, its all okay though because we can grind 80 ranks of nothingness.

You people live in denial.

This is all pure opinion which is fine. The things you complain about are exactly what I love about this game. I’ve had quite enough of the gear treadmill and the Gear > Skill PvP model and I am very happy that stuff is largely absent here.

I completely agree with this post!

The MAIN reason for playing MMOs is to obtain new and unique items and grow stronger and stronger even after you reach the level cap

Maybe for you, but for the rest of us MMOs are much more than just endless gear grinds and mailbox heroes. I happen to think it’s awesome that this game is NOT about endless raiding. I love the fact that maximum stat progression is easily obtainable which in turn eliminates those issues in PvP and lets strategy and teamwork become the determining factor. I love the fact that the “gearscore” mentality is totally unnecessary here.

If gear is the one and only thing you value in your MMOs then there are many other games out there that focus on that model. For the rest of us that are tired of that old and tired regurgitate, this game offers a lot more.

I love the fact this game is not yet another rehash of the Raid or forever be second class MMO. I love the fact that there is no real gear treadmill and that stats level out in order to promote competative PvP. I love the fact that “EndGame” is not a destination but is integrated into the overall experience.

Above all, I love the fact that this game is different. Devs, don’t change a thing.

I hate traditional raiding with a passion. Having said that, everything in the open world as the potential to turn into a raid like massive encounter. Why do we need raid content when the entire game is already so scalable?

Is the slowness of the Charr running animation bugging you?

Nah. I love my Charr Warrior. He doesn’t actually move any slower than other characters.

No raids please. I find it refreshing that this game has stepped away from that tired old model. Invariably, raids marginalize the rest of an mmo. Let’s keep this game moving in new directions without rehashing exclusionist content.

I have the same problem on my server. I can NEVER get in. Most evenings I spend the entire time waiting in queue. It’s a huge problem that ArenaNet needs to address quickly.

I’d recommend heavily against melee heavy classes like warrior and guardian. Melee in this game is just a massive headache of death after death. Enemies have no cast bars, so you’ll never know when to interrupt or dodge an incoming attack besides trying to judge it based on the movements and timing of your enemy. Which becomes nigh impossible when there’s 20+ people attacking it.

Guardian does have access to ranged attack support/healing weapons but their damage is so low that during events you’ll have hard times getting gold. (Apparently healing isn’t important enough)

You might as well throw healing out the window too cause out of every class I’ve played has horrible healing abilities, but every single one has an aoe heal ability that can easily be slotted instead of a self-heal. (Your 6th slot) Which means every class can help heal a little but far as I’ve seen no such thing as a great dedicated healer.

I found Thief really easy to learn and did great damage, but got boring due to a very simple damage roation. (Auto-Attack + press 1 button… use utility skills when they aren’t on cd)

I’m maining Mesmer atm and it’s great fun, not as fun as Mesmer was in GW, but still good. It has a lot of support skills, good damage, and a endless supply of quickly summoned pets that you can explode to do special things. He has some good aoe heals as well, constantly giving regeneration to allies.

I can’t really compare him to any class in WoW, cause Mesmer as far as I know is one of the most unique classes in GW and MMOs as a whole as far as I know. (Hard to kill support class with good damage output, great buffs and clones he constantly summons during combat)

I main a Warrior and I have very little trouble gaining a Gold rank during events. I switch between dual Axes and Greatsword and between the two, I can put out massive damage. I quite enjoy it.

End Game at 80?

In so far as “end game” I certainly hope that ArenaNet has enough sense not to implement some kind of raid grind gear treadmill. This kind of content tends to marginalize the rest of the game in just about every MMO I have ever had that supports endgame.

I plan to approach “endgame” just as I do now; I’ll continue to participate in sPvP and WvW, explore the world, and roll a few more characters.
