This has been happening to me, too. Happens randomly. That sad thing is that it has happened so frequently that I can tell when I should log out by how the “toons” act in game. For instance if I start to notice that I can’t hear my toons steps, but I can hear the background music then I know it’s time to log out before the freeze happens. When it starting happening, I read around and found recommendations to update all my drivers, did that 2 days ago. Also on a hunch I uninstalled GW2 and re-installed completely hoping there was some kind of gap in the data that was causing it. Yesterday it crashed big time in Lornar’s Pass mapping. Got a blue screen with a windows error.
I shut the computer down and was able to get back in this morning and then it started crashing again. This time there was just a freeze happening to the toon and after about two minutes he was able to move again, but there was no background sound. I escaped to desktop.
All this started after a Windows 8.1 Pro update which “coincidentally” happened around the same time as the MegaServer roll out.
