Erm, that’s not why many people are upset.

I expected kitten-$99 price tag. I budgeted for that. What’s kittening me off is that it includes the base game — I have no choice but to buy the base game — there is no other version.

This means that I, being a LOYAL customer, bought the base game, and then pay another $50 for the expansion. John Doe, however, pays $50 and gets both base and expansion. Which means because I am a loyal customer, I pay more.

I would have no problem paying the $99 if, instead of the base game, it was removed in favor of some sort of small kickback. Or, if there was a version of the expansion that was slightly cheaper/discounted if you already owned the base game.

Look at the Sims franchise. You CAN buy a base game+expansion combo, but it’s more expensive than the expansion alone.

Look at hundreds and hundreds of DLC on many, many other games. The DLC/Expansion/extras always (in my experience) have a separate, cheaper version without the base game. OR, provide some sort of special kickback for those already who own it.

This War of Mine gave me, who had bought the beta early access, the soundtrack free but made new players buy it. Or, FTL gave me the expanded edition since I already owned the game, but all new buyers had to buy it separately.

Over and over again, games make sure to make their old player base feels as valued as the new. Right now, that’s not how I feel. Right now i feel like Anet thumbed their nose at the old players (who are the ones who likely funded much of this expansion) and are ignoring us in favor of the new.

It isn’t the price tag. It’s the principle of treating your old player base like dirt. If you’re going to incentivize new players, you should do the same for those who have been with you and supporting you all this time.

Hi,

You may enjoy our guild, Netherfore. It’s a casual guild that doesn’t require 100% rep & does pve things. We do fractals and dungeons and the like.

But honestly, dont take my word for it. We do Tequatl world boss (Sparkfly Fen: Splintered Coast Waypoint) every day. Forming up at 9pm Central time for the 10pm Central spawn. Feel free to whisper at me for a taxi or check lfg around that time and come see us at work and generally teasing one another.

At the very least, you’ll get loot and entertainment.

Hi guys

We’re primarily a PVE guild. Because of this, we are not 100% rep. We do daily Tequatl runs for the spawn at 10pm Central time. Guild bounties on Friday nights, as well as Fractal and Dungeon runs and training.

Mostly, we’re a friendly guild that generally welcomes new players and old veterans. We have a facebook group to keep us all in contact and often hang out on Skype to chat.

If you’re interested in a more casual guild experience, with room to join WvW and PVP guilds if needed, we just might be the home for you. Send a message or a whisper if you’re interested.

Or even better, come try us out yourself. Visit our Tequatl run, which starts set up an hour before his spawn time. (9:00pm Central time)

MASSIVE Server/Skill Lag in WvW since patch

Just bumping this again.

I’ve been fighting this skill lag and random disconnects ever since the latest patch. This is my favorite game and I’ve put in quite a bit of REAL money as well as almost 4 hours daily to play.

But as of today (when I lost out on ALL my dailies after an hour of disconnects and skill lag rendering me not getting credit and random deaths to Level 11 trash mobs……)

Basially, I’m going on hiatus until the next patch comes out. And if it doesn’t get fixed after that and we’re not getting any response to these issues, then maybe it’s time to try another mmo. Heck, some of my friends do ESO and i’ve turned them down because GW is my obsession, but i’m about ready to try it. at least I’d get to play something.
