I’ve had the same problem for three days now, albeit after many tries I gradually worked down from 12 files left to just the one, but still didn’t get past that and remained stuck at 0%.
Just now, I managed to download it an instant by using a different network. I personally couldn’t reach any other WiFi networks nearby, so I used my phone as a hotspot and bam – it worked right away.
Hope that works for some of you!
Some of those players will be us, because I haven’t had such terrible lag in any kind of game, ever, F2P or not. Frankly, I don’t care if they run Anet into the ground trying to fix this, it’s better than the current state of things. :P
Why has ArenaNet stopped replying to this thread?
Did they ever?
Thank you, Kraktas, for posting that here. I got the vibe that was the case, but with so many posts to wade through I wasn’t quite sure just yet.
However, I’m only more bothered by that, too. Why did I have to wait for someone to write it here, rather than the staff? Either Anet were looking into it but for some simply ridiculous reason tried to hide or cover it up, or they weren’t looking into it at all. Either way, both of these options is absolutely unacceptable.
I tried winsock, I tried changing between dynamic and static IPs, port forwarding and all of that. Nothing seems to help. People should still try to see if, perhaps, it’ll help with individual cases, but I think the majority of us went through all their options.
Today I’ve lagged like never before, and I thought it was unplayable two weeks ago. I can’t see myself continuing to play with the current state of the game, but unfortunately threatening with leaving the game doesn’t have as much pull when there’s no subscription fee, is there? It went from being unplayable in the morning to being literally unreachable now, as I disconnect before going even past the loading screen, more often than not with no error whatsoever. When I do get it, I can talk in guild chat for a moment or two, and do absolutely nothing in the game world itself, before being booted.
Go anet!
I’ve been having terrible, unplayable lag for almost two weeks now while playing during peak hours, and a decent amount of lag outside of them – but today has to be the very top, getting this error and being disconnected repeatedly, one or two minutes into every gaming session, and with lag from the moment I pop in til I get thrown out.
And, of course, not a single word anet! That’s very nice. Very professional.
For the record, I’ve never lagged so badly that far into a game’s life, and I’ve seen enough launches and such. Not once. Very disappointed with the game at the moment, and can’t see myself staying for long if those problems continue.
Almost two weeks now, and still lagging like no body’s business – and no response or help from anet, wooo. Yes, I’ve checked, tried, forwarded ports, talked to ISP and all of that. It isn’t an issue on my side. Jumping around servers, both EU and US, tends to alleviate the problem just a bit, but the game is still mostly unplayable during peak hours. So at the moment, I am pretty much forced to play only at the middle of the night, and the very early morning, and the game still doesn’t run as smoothly as expected.
Server; Piken Square (EU) AND Tarnished Coast (US), playing from Israel / Middle East.
I’ve been having insane lag which makes the game pretty much unplayable to me for a while now, and last week I posted about it. Fortunately, I was then off for the week on a trip and figured the problem would be fixed by the time I came back – but it remains just as bad and the game remains pointless. Like before, I tested, reset, and all the other things to make sure it isn’t an issue on my end. Please acknowledge and fix the problem as soon as possible. Thank you.
Edit: Also, very frequent disconnects with error code 7:11:blahblah. Inveitable around 5 minutes into any session where I log in and do nothing at all.
Edit 2: Forgot to mention. Piken Square server, playing from the middle east.

Huh, a slight update. I’m not sure whether something was done or happened, but I’ve just transferred over from my usual realm (Piken Square, EU) to a US realm (Tarnished Coast), and I see a considerable improvement in lag, though it still isn’t smooth. I did get a black screen once, but so far, the game seems to respond better in terms of connectivity – despite myself living closer to Europe than the US. I see several people mentioned EU so far – try and temporarily moving to a US server and see if it eases up the problem.
Everything is possible, but so far the circumstances seem to point at GW2. If it ends up being an issue somewhere else – good for them, but until then my first guess is them and assuming it is, help would be nice.
No, Guild Wars 2 is the only thing affected, of that much I am certain. Again, completely and utterly unplayable, as opposed to anything else which runs as smoothly as possible.
Been like so for several days now, and no attempt to fix it on my end seemed to help.
I also forgot to mention it started before the most recent build, it has been so for several days now, especially during the noon and onwards. I think very late night and very early morning are a bit more forgiving, but not by far.
Like others, I’ve been having terrible lag and disconnects all over the place, something I hadn’t experienced before. It makes every single aspect of the game truly unbearable.
Don’t think anyone else mentioned it, but I’m on the EU servers, if that’s any help or indication to what may be wrong. Also, definitely not an error on my (our) side.
