9:40 seconds…
Drops bomb, I think “ah no way”
Second later, thief HS to big ole bomb, “Is this going to happen?”
It happened.
Epic anticipation.
Named my Human Warrior after who’m I think to be some of the bravest men I can think of.
Maj Winters, Band of Brothers reference.
Me and my buddy Lt Compton just run around as a duo, both Rifle Warriors, just skirmishing against the odds.
I guess it depends on what/where/how you play.
I use it, and it makes a big difference. I literally get the drop on people (pun intended).
Normally I’m running Rifle+s/w in WvW. So i’ll position myself on a ledge. I’m always running solo/duo picking small man fights.
I’ve had a couple scenario’s where I believe DFA made all the difference.
Had a buddy down below me with 2 people killing him, he went into the downed state and they both start the finisher. As soon as he went down I pounced down on them, knocking them off and interrupting. It gave me enough time to get him back up and one of the guys was already low health so we focused him. Ended up killing the first, and 2nd ran away.
Also i’ll try and knock enemies off the ledges with rifle #5, then follow them down for added dps and knockback. use tactics lvl 1 immob on cripple, so #2 rifle immobilizes long enough for me to #5 them off the ledge normally.
It all depends on how you play, if you set yourself up to use it, it can be incredible. If you don’t set yourself up, it IS pointless.
It doesn’t just dps, but also knocks back, which is just 2-3 more seconds of no dps to you, and more dps to them. It’s all about not taking dps.
Hey guys, i’m looking for a small-man WvW build, speed is essential, must be able to be kept up over 90% of the time. Me and a buddy came from DAoC, ran duo’s literally all day long.
I always ran the bard, the speeder, so i’d like to keep it similar, i’d like to make my toon more of an immobilizer to the enemy, and condition breaker for my allies. He and I will be running 2 warrior builds, mine focus on support, and condition dps, his will either stack on the condition dps, or more straight dps via rifle.
We need to keep main dps with the rifle, we need to keep at range, it’s huge for this kind of fighting in WvW.
That’s the build (probably copy paste into URL) i’m thinking about. Little shout healing with the condition removal via soldier, Some CC from Fear me, and every time i hit #2 on rifle or 3 on sword it immobilizes for 1 sec. That is huge when trying to kite.
Anyways, if you guys have any other idea’s for me, i’d appreciate them, or if you think this won’t work, let me know, i’d hate to hit 80, deck myself out then go, “ah kittys!”
Big things I want is SPEED, and condition removal. Dps more on a focus from ranged condition via rifle, just 10-12 bleeds is suffice for me, not going for blow-em-up.
Thanks for any input!
Good kittens man, good kittys
K, I got this!
all your idea’s are super cool and all…
I have no doubt the coolest kitty on the block
A GONG! Like the dredge use in the level 25-35 zone. Seriously, it’d be super support heavy, throwing out boons and AoE conditions around you, and here’s the kick!!
Make the skills the 4-5 slots yeah? Now your main hand controls what those #4-5 are, so say axe gives might/speed/vigor or something, while mace gives protection/vigor/something?
Haven’t thought that part out to much yet, but think about it that would add SO much to the warrior class. Just something that I think would be an easy (already partialy implemented to game) and VERY fun addition to the warrior (and engineer?) class.
EDIT: Or maybe the #5 is a permanent Gong ability, and just the #4 is affected by the main weapon?
Axes focus around dps, so giving Might and vigor to allies, while weakening nearby enemies?
Hammer is more defensive, so Protection and Regen? Vuln to nearby enemies?
Sword is condition(?) so Swiftness and Something else? While cripple to enemies?

If you go Rifle warrior, you MUST get teh 1 sec immobilize off snare in tactics, tier1 trait.
It makes kiting 2x easier. Seriously, when someone is running away, or you’re kiting or prepping for kill shot, hit your #2 and smack kill shot, sure kill shot takes longer than the duration of immobilize (unless you frenzy) but it gives them less time to react.
I just find that one trait makes it amazing for keeping people off you, or from getting away (it also cripples)
Honestly I could make my Necro worth while if the fears lasted longer that 1-3/4 seconds max.
In SPvP i’ve got a solid build based around fear/bleeds, because you can get fear to do 3x the dps of a single bleed. So you can make them worth while, but at their current state, the CD time compared to duration of the fear itself makes them a “o kitty” button rather than an offensive “I beat kitty’s” spell.
(nothing against cats, but if ANet is going to auto use it I might as well save them the time haha)
Also what Zabatakis said about the #2 and #1 skill in DS.

Lol…
Keep on trollin buddy, I find it hard that you don’t see what i’m saying, I don’t care that the portal was used, (heck it didn’t even happen to me) or that he got “outsmarted” (even though it wasn’t a matter of smarts) but the fact that ANet has a “culling” problem. That’s what this is about. Sure it’s a small jab at mesmers, but it’s more in line of it’s kind of crap that this can even happen, rather than it did.
And as far as playing games that are easier, i’m pretty sure I put 7 years and a couple RR7+ into a much more “difficult” game to play. The mesmer portal trick is nothing new, been used since BWE2 EXTENSIVELY in WvW, so don’t act like “i’m so much smarter cause I learned something used 6 months ago”.
But my point has nothing to do with the learn-ability or mechanics of the games classes. My point reflects entirely around the rendering problem of ANet. And that it is now being used in a way to, for lack of other words, exploited.
Now before you freak out about that word, i’m not calling a ban on the players who used it, what i’m saying is, it’s a sack of crap that ANet can’t even fix their dumb servers when I’ve ran into 150vs150vs150 in DAoC 5 years ago and didn’t have this problem.
At bare minimum we should have SOMETHING to show an enemy is there, heck give us floating names if nothing else. That way we can at least see something!
How is that so hard to understand?
Waaaiiiittt aaa seeecconnnddd..
So, you’re telling me, the enemy zerg was more organized, and portaled into your zerg before you thought of portaling into their zerg, and you’re complaining about it? And you’re a mesmer? It’s like a mind trip trying to figure out how bad you have to be to blame others for your lack of skill and coordination.
If they can do it to you, you can do it to them, so get better.
It’s not a matter of “We got out smarted i’m going to go QQ!!”
It’s the fact that ANet has said, “we have a rendering problem in WvW, where it takes a while for some enemies to appear on your screen, when they could even be right next to you”. (not exact quote, but pretty much it)
So what is the problem here? You are atacking a keep, and next thing you know there is a mesmer portal… But nothing comes out of it….
Now your health is half gone and everyone is scrambling cause EVERYONE is taking massive dps…
Now everyone is dead and the first few people start “rendering” on your screen.
Zerg got wiped by a server problem.
Not a “I got outsmarted i’m going to cry on the forums” post, or “Mesmer Portals are OP and should be nerfed!” post, but rather, “Mesmer portals and zergs are able to take advantage of the server rendering problem and it is a major problem” post.
