Necro greatsword does hint at a more eye-of-the-storm type necro, so I’d imagine maybe some mass-bleeds and perhaps a blood-is-power type risk/reward move (with increasing returns on number of enemies hit). Although the Mesmer greatsword did show that they can do less obvious things with weapons.

I would guess the Mesmer special might also get a main dagger (I don’t think there’s currently any class that can ONLY main a dagger), or a mace (basically cause it’d be interesting and it’s currently only used by 2 classes). But yeah drxynnic you do echo something fairly important.

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, but with specializations I’m having a hard time thinking that the Mesmer (and possibly other specializations) will only get an off-hand. There’s two reasons for this.
For one, with the Engi special getting hammers and Druids getting staffs – that’s some classes getting 5 new weapon skills and another only getting 2. While I get that not everything has to be totally even handed, that’s a reasonably large disparity.
For two, as it stands the mesmer has two main hands, and FOUR off-hands. Increasing that to two main hands and FIVE off-hands feels like a big disparity as well.
(Yes yes this is all speculation, and I’m aware that with the very little we know, it’s entirely possible that specialization-mechanics might change things up quite a lot, but as one disparity on top of another, it feels a touch…off)
