There’s no point in reading a book if in 2 weeks you reach the last page. No point in seeing a movie the will end only one hour forty minutes. Why play an MMO if the story ends, might as well quit right now.
This discussion is quite different since they already had a way to make it last longer and now shifted back to another design.
If you know that it’s possible because it’s been done before, you may wonder about why they changed their attitude and approach now.
And again, what do you expect us to answer now? We know as much as you do, we don’t know in what way and how you enjoy games. So… Whats the point of this?
Listen, the world don’t work like this. You wont get fun, entertainment and joy when you don’t put effort in it. Why don’t you just lay back and see what is coming in 3 weeks? There is no point to discuss this now.
All I can tell you thus far is: You will not enjoy this game (as much) when you are going to rush it. Maybe you should go and watch a movie? It’s like the same. You get told a Story without any input by you.
Anyway, no need to discuss this at this point now.
What exactly do you want to hear from us now? Of course you are done within a few weeks by the way you play that game. You would be in any game that is out there to play.
Guildwars 2 is about making your own goals and tasks to keep you motivated. And thats pretty simple as it has soooo many options and possibilities.
If I rush thru the content, I would be done (with a normal online time spend) in 3 days with the main Story, 2 days LW2, 3 days Hot and again 2 days LW3, if I am going to rush.
So what is your point now? Go head out to the world and explore it. Do events, play with friends, try to find hidden or hard to get acivements. Repeat the Story in case you maybe missed something. Or just grind your butt off for something you want.
You cant expect the game to keep you entertained and motivated when you are rushing it. Maybe do a event evening with your Guild on one of the maps. This can be so much fun, and maybe you will find some good loot?
especialy with the new bountys that are coming. They are soooo much fun I am telling you.
Guildwars 2 is not and has never been one of those games where you go like: “Oh Story done, okay guys, the game is over. I will be back when the next expansion comes out.”
Just as an example: last monday I finished the Main Story for the I guess 8th time? And guess what, there still has been parts I was suprised about. Maybe because I didnt noticed or wasnt paying attention. I dont know.
So, as a conclusion: make your own goals in this game, step by step, and you will see how long a expansion can last for you. It took me 6 months of gameplay until I was able to say “Okay guys, I am done with HoT now. I did it!”. And no, it was not after I have killed mordremoth

Hello everyone
I don’t think the main issue with underwater combat is the 3D angle issues you maybe have or that you don’t know how far your skill reaches. You will get used to it as you do on land.
The main problem I see here is, that you deal sooooooooo much less damage than on land. Just an example:
Back in the days I was playing a ranger and tried to do my 100% map achievement. I don’t know which specific map it was, but it was some lvl 60-70 are in core tyria. So the task was to disturb the inquisition in whatever they where doing. I was heading out with my shark and ready to go.
Usually it takes me up to 5 minutes to complete a heart quest (Unless I don’t know what even to do). This time, it took me nearly 20 Minutes. Why? Well, my gear was exotic lvl 80, even my underwater gear. It took me 1 minute to kill 1 non-veteran foe. Thats insane! Each kill gave me like 3% – 5% for my heart completion. I got soo frustrated.
You can’t combo in any way. Your skills do not match with each other and their base damage is way to low!
There are so many possibilities with underwater combat. You can forge so many cool skills that really have an impact on your playstyle. You have a real 3D space where you can do so many things.
Back in 2012 I was really hyped for underwater combat. That stated that it will be a core element of the game which it was on release. But somehow they lost the track for it which is really sad to see.
There are 3 things (which are not thaaaat hard to realize) that would even fix underwater combat in a way that it is as much fun as land fights are:
1. A seperate, simultaneous ruinning (which means you dont have to reskill every time you want to go to the water) masterie page, with masteries especially for underwatercombat. Something like we have for land weapons.
2. Rework all the (or lets say 80% of the) underwater weaponskills for every class and make them have some sort of synergy with each other. Also rework or fix the other skills so they can be used underwater.
3. (AND MOST IMPORTANTLY!!!) Fix the basedamage of underwater combat (player side). You deal sooooo kitten , extreme, mega, ridiculous, (what so ever) low damage underwater that it gets frustrating. Raise it! Make it as worthy as land skills are.
Also, 1 or 2 little thinks that could improvate the underwater combat too:
- Dont replace the helmet with the Respiratory Equipment (Is it called that way?), make it a skin only or maybe give it seperate, unique stats ON TOP of the helmet.
- Make underwater combat and exploring a core element of your game again. Create a synergy between UW and land combat. Add some tactical aspects to this. Even in PVP and especially in WvW which had a great potential for underwater combat.
Anyway, I really really (x100) hope that one day we get underwater combat back to a state where it is as cool as land combat. There is so much potential.
Just my 2 cents. Greetings

Hello everyone
I have a quick question because I dont understand one part of the game.
Today my character hit level 80 (Yay!) and while he still was lvl 79, I was doing some map stuff on a lvl 55-65 map. I was using some lvl 60 rare equipment as I didnt want to spend money for gear that gets changed anyway I hit lvl 80. So far so good, I did good dmg and didnt get oneshot at all.
So once I hit lvl 80, I want to a City and bought me some fancy exotic gear from the money I saved. I switched every single piece from lvl 60(rare) to lvl 80(exotic). I kept them with the same types of attributes. So like I didnt want from tanky attributes to full dmg for example. Anyway, my question now: As I went back to the same spot I was before, I got shocked! It was so hard to fight that enemys now! I got 2 shop by some vetran enemys which I tanked without any problems before even tho I didnt change my any of my skills etc. So, is that normal? How does scaling work? Shouldn’t I be much stronger now than weeker? Am I getting more downscaled now because of my better gear? Or does gear even have an impact on scaling? Thank you all for your help
Greetings
