While Cerby is right,there has been numerous performance related issues since the last patch(and a few patches before that,even), I wouldn’t expect much more from that CPU.

Single threaded performance being the main bottleneck in this game,your FPS ceiling is going to be directly tied to that. The best you can do is Overclock it to 4-4.4ghz(with good cooling) and lower troublesome settings like;

• Character Limits,and to a lesser extent,quality.- This really is the main factor on FPS as it adds soooo many more meshes and draw calls.

• Reflections – They’re just not very visually impactful compared to the FPS hit received because of how Gw2 does water. Under 98% of maps there’s a massive body of water(evident from videos of people “breaking out” of the map or falling through it). To make a body of water in a map,they dip the terrain level into the water level. The problem is that even if you cant see any water on that map..it’s there,and its reflecting.

• Shadows -Ultra shadows cause pretty high spikes in my Frame Time Latency when moving the camera quickly. I leave mine on high but your mileage my vary.

And dont forget to cut the number of running applications down as much as is convenient to help open up cycles.

What processor would you recommend for this game?

I highly doubt this is a problem on your computer’s side. My game graphics and fps turned terrible after the last patch (Nov 17th). I would just wait and keep complaining so we get Anet to address the problem if there is one. I find it hard to believe this many people are having these issues right after a patch through their own fault.

I run gtx 755m so y card is really bad compared to yours but i had no trouble playing everything on medium settings before the patch, and it looked great ….so mbe its certain (or dare I say most/all) nvidia cards in general having the problem

I have a nvidia 970 gtx, AMD FX 8350 Eight-Core Processor, and my FPS is barely ever reaches 50. I get Constant stuttering when turning the camera, turning shadows from high to ultra makes me drop into the low 30s while just standing outside the starting human city. Is this normal for this game? If I have the field of view over half way to the right the fps just drops like crazy.

I feel like this shouldn’t be the case. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
