I would have liked him a lot better if his appearance hadn’t suddenly replaced my mentor. Mind, I’ve played all of the stories, and all three of the mentors are very cool.
Then you replace them with the monotone Trahearne who doesn’t make sense on a lot of levels.
1 – Why is he going out on the front lines with me if he’s so important? Queen Jenna doesn’t go kill bandits with me. The Vigil’s General Almorra doesn’t. The head of the Order of Whispers sure doesn’t. The Priory’s head scholar doesn’t.
2 – I’m a human. I’ve never even heard of this guy. Why am I gonna hang out with him? Give this guy a book and gimme my partner back – they had a lot more personality.
I couldn’t agree more. I love everything in this patch aside from the fly in our soup.
Unfortunately, that one little fly is ruining the perfect soup of my Guild Wars 2. It turns my stomach and makes me not want to eat the rest, and that really breaks my heart at the same time. I was really, really enjoying this game.

Please go here and voice your support for the idea of ascended armor WITHOUT stat upgrades over exotic gear. It’s important that ANet hears us.

Hahaha… oh god, this thread validates what so many people are saying right now.
Welcome to WoW Wars 2.
Remove the stat bonuses and all of this goes away, players stay, people that wanna grind in the new dungeon can grind in the new dungeon while people who don’t, don’t have to in order to stay on par.
It’s a simple solution.
Your friends will gobble up this content and leave again anyway. The people that actually enjoy the game for the game will be departing permanently over these changes.
Simply make the stats the same and all complaints go away and they maintain their brand integrity.
I don’t understand how they ever came to any other conclusion.
This is awful. I hope it’s not too late. We need to keep making our voices heard.

That’s correct. I’m not a fanboy at all. I’m here to enjoy what was promised to me. I won’t stick by a game out of loyalty if they turn it into something that I don’t like anymore. Why should I?
They’re turning GW2 into a generic gear-grind MMO. They’re doing it slowly, but I’m hoping it’s because they still have some folks in their offices that are thinking ‘oh no’ in the same way their players are. The only weapon we have against it is closed wallets – mine is now firmly shut – and our voices in the community, which I’m now exercising along with everybody else on the forums.
No, worse. WoW players.
And we hope you’re listening. You’re ripping out the beating heart of your playerbase right now.
I’m talking about the core of us that you promised with your manifesto, the core of us that came here because of it. You’re betraying your brand. You’re catering to a demographic that was never going to stick around here anyway.
They’ll arrive, they’ll gobble up your new content, and they’ll leave just like they were always going to do. They’re not who you made this game for.
The problem is that in luring them in very temporarily with this.. you’re, at the same time, driving that core of us that came here away. And once you go down this road, we will not be coming back.
It’s not too late. Listen to your community. Please. I really like your game, but I’m ready to throw it on the scrap heap of every other MMO I’ve given a shot to, because they all boil down to the same old crap – the same old crap you’re about to smear all over my beloved GW2.
Extremely well said. Someone needs to go straight to the guys in charge and show them this, because the pandering they’re doing to the WoW raiding crowd is going to destroy their game and I can’t tell you how much that makes me scratch my head.
Finally there was an MMO that had put its crosshairs straight on me for the target audience… and now they’re ruining it. After reading all this, I logged on, sat for about 10 minutes thinking, knowing all of the dungeons except the new one were soon to be obsolete, and then I logged off.
I’ll still be there to check out the new content on Friday, but right after I logged off I started looking into a new avenue (another game my friend had been urging me to try) to spend my time on. I went and I checked out the LoL Season 3 patchnotes, too.
To be clear, I was a LOL player daily, almost religiously, before I found GW2, and then I immediately disappeared into it. I played it a TON, and I’ve played LOL once since I arrived here and got hooked into the grinding-is-optional world they created. I’ve been to all the dungeons and I was still enjoying running them anyway, even though I’ve long had a full set of exotics. Now.. I don’t know. I feel so drained of enthusiasm.
Tomorrow I’ll be back on LOL. I might visit on Friday, or pop on to say hi to my friends while we lament the demise of our favourite passtime… but man, what a waste.

No, please remove stat increases. This is not why I picked GW2. If I wanted this, I would have purchased Mists of Pandaria.
I know it’s piling on at this point, but I have to say, reading about this has me immensely disappointed.
Add me to the list of people seriously reconsidering his spending his playtime on GW2 to somewhere else.
I feel almost… betrayed. I don’t play WoW because I don’t like WoW. Why are you turning GW2 into WoW?
