The Black Lion Trader at Caer Shadowfain Waypoint in the Cursed Shore will occasionally bug out for me resulting in me being unable to talk to her. This is normally fixed by relogging but has been persistent for roughly a week at this point. I approach her and there is no option to talk to her or right click on her. I can spawn my own trader and speak to them, I can go back to a major city and operate with those traders, I’m just unable to trade with the one at this particular waypoint.

Also broken on my server. The harpy was at 30% then disappeared, 2 skritt were alive. There is a move where the harpies dart up in the air and out of range, then slam down into the ground. The harpy was near the rock area it spawns in front of when it was being fought, I’m guessing it might’ve glitched during the move described above also because of it’s closeness to the rock ledge.

Thank you for your reply Colin Johanson. Hopefully the worries are just a matter of not fully understanding the changes. I will eagerly await those blog posts.

@Chase,
Thank you for your reply and I do understand that. I don’t expect them to not go forward with the patch. I see the benefits and acknowledge what they’re trying to do. The RP community isn’t as small as you think, though, and I just ask that you recognize that when reading the rest of this post. We’re all trying to enjoy a game we paid for.

Here are the concerns I’m seeing from the RP community at large:

1. TC and PS are the unofficial RP servers. If they get thrown together there becomes a problem of historical continuity between the servers. That is something we will have to fix on our own and not ANet’s problem, however, we would like to know if this is something we should be concerned with.

2. Harassment has always been an issue whether a game marked their server as RP or not. Up to this point, by declaring the servers unofficially as RP hubs we’ve managed to sidestep a lot of that harassment. If we’re going to see an increase in population we have every right to ask how the game is going to protect it’s customers and players against future harassment. This may mean addressing the report feature and how it can be improved to discourage the physical harassment I described above. I understand from a non-rper point of view this may be a minimal concern, something we should just be advised to ignore and move on, but think of it like this. Imagine you’re trying to complete a really annoying and stupidly difficult jumping puzzle. You’re literally one jump away from the end and getting that chest, and someone just one shots you out of no where just because they think it’s funny. Now imagine them doing that over and over, even when you relocate. That is essentially the frustration RPers feel when being physically trolled and neither of those things are reportable.

3. You can only have 500 people in a guild. There are ~9214 role players that I can vouch for based on the membership numbers of the role play dedicated forums. That does not account for all of them, just those who signed up to the website. How do you suggest we ensure the same people we’ve RPed with since launch are going to be in our map? Making a massive RP guild wont work. Even multiple guilds won’t work as we have a limit of 2500 due to the limit on guild membership.

So yes, not implementing this change isn’t an option and that I acknowledge but we still have a reason for concern.

Firstly, thank you for all the work you’ve done on the updates and trying to improve the game. It’s greatly appreciated even if the community sometimes has issues showing that appreciation. With every update so far there have been people for and against. This announcement in particular is concerning for the Role Play community and while we aren’t the target audience despite this being described as a Massively multiplayer online role-playing game, we are very loyal customers.

As such I am starting this thread with the hope of allowing the roleplay community a place to voice their concerns and possibly get some answers. For those responding, please remember to abide by the forum rules and especially remember to reference the “How to give feedback” thread.

My Questions
1. How will this affect the people I’ve blocked? Will they be shuffled to another map unless someone in my guild has them unblocked?

2. How much of a change in population are we bound to see for major cities and the world?

As role players we’ve had to deal with trolling issues in other games where people stand on your character to break immersion, activate abilities, dance on you, spam emotes and basically do anything they can to actively disrupt the role play experience for no reason aside from this is the internet and lawlwhynot. Those actions, aside from the emote spamming, are technically not reportable offenses as is. If massively blocked players are going to be weeded out then this /may/ solve the problem. If this is not the case, then there remains a strong fear that you are essentially removing or discouraging the role play portion of the game by adding this feature and eliminating the point of “unofficial” rp servers.

Feedback/Questions: Town clothes, Costumes, & Combat

I enjoyed the town clothes, but mostly for specific occasions or for my heavy armor classes. As a role player, having a character wear heavy armor all the time didn’t make sense. Furthermore, for a female, it is very difficult to find armor that isn’t scantily clad.

If the town clothes will no longer function as I had purchased them to then I will be disappointed, but understanding. This is a game, yes, but it’s also a business and you need to make money, fair enough. I do ask, however, that you have already considered the need to mix armor classes or at the very least allow for the creation of pieces that have more of a “Commoner” appearance, even if it’s a low level item. Something you could wear to a gathering at a tea shoppe, or something of that nature.

It would be an agreeable compromise at least.

Guild Renaming

Dear Developers,

Firstly, thank you for your continued hard work and consideration of this and all other suggestions. The community at large is made up of unique personalities, opinions, and desires and I understand this fact alone means not all ideas will be utilized. That being said, I apologize if I am repeating a suggestion that has already been made, addressed, denied or is in the process of being completed. My searching “Guilds” and “Rename” ended with no results. Moving on…

The purpose of this post is to request and discuss adding in the ability to rename a guild. This ability is available among competitors for a real world monetary value and could function similar to the Name Change Contract in theory.

Now that I’ve made this seem overly simplistic, allow me to touch on potential problems. Being unfamiliar with your current coding, I am only able to theorize and assume so please forgive me if there are errors in my thinking. I welcome those with more knowledge to reply and add to the potential problems while posting solutions as well.

1. Renaming the guild and changing the associated guild tag may not show universally across all guild members at the time of the change.
Possible resolution: The completion of the renaming function would force the guild to be unrepresented by all guild members while the change was made.
2. How would the guild members be notified of the change and the need to re-represent their guild accordingly?
Possible resolution: Similar to the pop up window that occurs when you are invited to a guild, a message would show up stating something along the lines of, “Guild X has changed their name to Guild XYZ. Please renew your representation in the guild panel.”
3. What if the guild wished to reverse the name change?
Possible resolution: It should be noted that in line with the Name Change Contract that Guild Name Change Contracts would be a one-time use and irreversible. To change the name they would need to purchase another contract.
4. What would happen to the old name?
Possible resolution: Similar to character names, the old guild name would be available for anyone to use in the formation of a new guild.
5. Shouldn’t the renaming function be available among upgrades?
Possible resolution: This could be a top tier upgrade listed under the Politics tab, but would cost an extensive amount of influence. The reason for the extensive amount is that influence is purchasable through gold, which is purchasable through gems, which is purchasable through real world currency. While adding it as an upgrade feature would offer the chance of grinding out gold for influence purchase or completing other activities to earn influence, it would also offer another source of income for Arena.net who does not currently require monthly subscription fees to play. The extensive amount of influence would also discourage the abuse of this system.

Thank you once more for your consideration of this suggestion.

Sincerely,
Rachel (Xehara.8537)
