I’ve never used S/P much but i’ve heard it works well with signet of malice for healing. Try to gather a couple of mobs up and pistol whip (?) to daze and chop em down. I don’t think stealth would be very important for what you want to do, I could be wrong though.
How much vitality does this build leave you with? Also, is this for WvW or PvE?
It always seemed like exploding cluster bomb early does more damage, without even factoring in the bleeds.
How would a non condition build work for PvE D/D? SB for mobs and D/D for single targets is what I would like, i’m just tired of bleeds after 79 levels of it.
As the title says, which is the main stat for shortbow? While leveling I focused on condition damage, carrion armor/jewels/etc, and loved it. At 80, though, I feel as if I should move away from condition damage. I know cluster bombs inflict bleed, but is the explosion the majority of the damage over the bleed?
Also, is D/D viable in PvE as a non condition DB build? I don’t really want a glass cannon, but is there any non condition build that works well for D/D & SB at 80? PvE and maybe a few dungeons is what I would be doing.
Saw City of Heroes so I had to get in. It was a great game, hope we’ll see a sequel/spiritual sequel sometime.
Hey, thanks for the replies and sorry it took me so long to get back on the forums.
So what i’m working with now is full carrrion armor, working on crafting exotics. I’ve got a set of full beserker trinkets and a full set of carrion trinkets, both MW (greens).
I’ve been jumping between two different builds 0/30/0/25/15 and 0/10/20/25/15, the later for a P/D & SB and the former for D/D & SB. Any ideas on which would be better for general PvE? Or any ideas for a better build? I like D/D for a more single target feel, with SB for groups and zergs, but I feel pressured to go for more GC stats or it’s a waste. P/D makes me feel a bit more sturdy, but the kill speed seems a good deal slower. I can’t really decide which one to keep and start buying exotic weapons for.
I’m coming up on 80 with my thief and I can’t decide on a final build. While leveling I used P/D and SB pretty much the entire way. Lately though i’ve been wanting to switch to D/D and SB. I’m wondering what gear is recommended for this build? Can I get cond/prec/vit gear? Or is toughness more important than vitality for thieves?
While looking for gear, trinkets, runes and sigils i’m a little lost at what stats are the most important. I like stacking bleeds, so is power really all that important or should precision get first priority?
The build is really only for PvE farming and map completion. Dungeons and WvW aren’t really my thing. Any tips for gear, runes/sigils, slots, stats?
Hi, I was wondering which light armor class everyone would recomend for me. I’ve tried all three up to around 10 multiple times but I can’t seem to decide.
Elementalist seems fun but pretty complicated. I’ve heard, or read around the forums rather, that they’re good but have you have to work twice as hard to get the same results as other professions. The biggest problem I had was the no weapon swap. Really felt it during DEs when I wanted to use staff but forgot to equip it lol. By level 10 the game is still pretty easy so I feel like it was to early to tell.
Necro I have no clue. I try to stay out of their part of the forums, way to negative. I really don’t know what to expect from trying to level one, but they’re light armor so it’s on the table.
Mesmer’s are ok, even more complicated than the ele though. This was my latest attempt at a light armor profession. It seems fun but it’s tough tagging mobs in DEs, which is a pretty big bummer. Tried pretty much all the weapon combos but they don’t seem very heavy in the AoE department.
Little back ground, my only 80 is a ranger. Was a fun ride to 80 but then it just got stale trying to work with his build and tagging mobs in huge zergs. Also have a 42 warrior, waaaay to boring play style. This character would be used 99% of the time for just solo questing/exploration and maybe just a touch of WvW. At 80 it would also be nice to be able to tag mobs in DEs without going crazy.
I’m a very casual player and I don’t need the best, just want to see if anyone has any thoughts about which class they would recomend. Thanks!
I believe it. After NCSoft shutdown City of Heroes, I stopped giving them money anyways. I pre-ordered this game a week before the news of City of Heroes and to this day I have not spent a single dollar in the cash shop. ANet might be a great group of people and developers, i’ve heared alot of good things about GW1, but their relationship to NCSoft kills it for me. I hope for all the best towards GW2 and ANet but I expect more grind in the future, a terrible cash shop, and loss of player base within a year or two.
It’s a great game but oh well, I got my 60$ out of it.
Once/if nexon/NCSoft bleed the game dry through terrible decisions, they’ll just shut it down. Or just stop funding it, I don’t know. They’ll have their eyes on the next big thing that they can ruin.
Long time CoX player here. City of Heroes is/was the greatest MMO i’ve ever played, and will probabaly ever play imo. But it is/was old. The combat in GW2 really trumps CoX’s combat anyday. Of course GW2 isn’t perfect, no game is, but after being able and encouraged to move during combat I don’t think there’s any way I could go back to CoX’s rooted combat.
CoX will always be the better game than any other MMO out there, i’m definetly biased though lol.
Most of the people playing don’t post on the forums so I don’t know how they feel.
But, I think anyone that has been reading the forums for the past few days can tell the majority of people that have been posting are upset about…well everything that’s happend in the past week.
I’ve enjoyed the game so far. I didn’t follow it during beta or anything though. Think i heard about it on TORs forums and jumped ship as soon as i could lol. Now that game was a let down…
But, there have been alot of unhappy people on the forums ever since the new armor tier was introduced and since that rediculously terrible letdown of a patch on the 15th. I’ve been wondering, are people actually leaving like they claim they are? How would we even know with no subscriptions? Would it even make a difference?
While there are those who are enjoying the new content, I think we can all agree that the general tone of the forums is negative. Very negative. I hope we can get a dev post or something in the coming week to address some of the issues this major content update has brought with it.
Didn’t get kicked off the server or anything but it still was very laggy, and as such not very fun. I try to avoid LA on normal days due to the lag, don’t know who thought this would be a good idea. Instead of having it all in LA, they could have done pretty much the same thing, just across all the major cities.
If there are only 2 people working on balancing between the proffessions, why would you waste what little time you have on underwater powers? It doesn’t even matter if our under water attacks we were fine before this ‘update’, the fact is so little of the game is under water. No matter what way you look at it, it’s a waste of time and resources.
And why did warriors really need a buff? I mean, come on. They were perfectly fine a week ago, but some of that precious time and resources, of which they apparently have so little of, went to buffing them further. To that all I can say is….really?
All that work they did on the new content? Total waste, atleast for me. As I was downloading the patch last night I found and read the patch notes. I then spent the next few hours browsing the forums, happy to know I don’t seem to be alone in my frustration, and playing black ops 2. Waited for this patch all day yesterday and that’s what we got. Why warriors needed a buff, I will never know. Well Anet, i’m sorry but I don’t think i’m going to be logging in or participating this weekend.
You came to the forums and told us we were getting significant improvements and quality of life improvements with the upcoming patch. I don’t mean to be rude but, was that all just a bunch of smoke? Maybe it’s just me but when a dev comes to the forums and makes statements of the kind that you did, regarding this patch, I tend to believe them. Now you’re saying it takes time, the problems are deeper than we think, there’s so much stuff to do and so little time. Ok, did you not think about that before you told us about all the awsome things we were getting with this patch?
Rangers are a pretty terrible class right now, but they’re still my favorite. I took a break from my main, a level 57 ranger, after I heard about the coming updates. Had I not been expecting some serious help with this patch, I would still be playing my ranger and would probabaly be level 80 by now. I understand there’s alot of things that need to be done for the whole game, not just rangers, but being told this patch would be great for us but then turns out to be, well, complete trash just doesn’t sit right with me.
Was looking forward to this patch all day. Needless to say, so very disappointing. Part of me feels there’s got to be another update coming down the line shortly, but I know that’s not likely. This whole major content update is really starting to leave a bad taste about GW2 in general for me. If this were subscription based I don’t think i’d be here any longer. Definetly won’t be spending any money on the cash shop though.
The ranger forum should start a petition, or something, demanding an answer about this update. May or may not have any real effect but it couldn’t hurt.
For me, humans seem to generally move the best, if that makes sense. For example, norns just feel like they’re running in slow motion. That alone is a deal breaker for me, even if it is just my own perception. I’ve never tried a char but I assume it would be the same. The small ones (I don’t even know what they’re called, lol) are just to small and kind of creep me out..lol. And the leaf people, who I thought would be the main species I would play, turned out to just look weird to me. Humans were actually the last class i expected to play.
Yup, i’m a male and my two toons are both female. Why? I gues they’re just more appealing to look at than the male models in general, not trying to be creepy but that’s just how i feel. As of right now i’m playing a ranger and theif who seem to have nothing but trench coat armor, so I gues it’s not the kitten thing.
