I just came back recently, and I’ve noticed that everyone seems to be focusing on dps builds and dps only runs and whatnot, so I was wondering what the most wanted support and/or control professions/builds are at the moment because I’d really like to be able to mix things up a bit rather than use the same old cookie cutter builds that everyone else is using.
Assuming there are any, that is. I’ve been looking around for a couple of days now and really haven’t found much, which is pretty sad since when I last played (which was a little after launch) there were so many different builds around, and I figured over time even more builds would pop up. Though, it seems that exactly the opposite has happened seeing as how most builds are just slightly different variants of the same core build for the various professions.

These kinds of discussions make me wonder. Do the people that have a problem with Guild Wars 2’s endgame play games for fun at all? Why do you need to get a reward for every little thing you do in a game? Imo the game is meant to be played for the fun of it. If you are only playing it to get some intangible reward, you are doing it wrong.
Two things that may help you on your ele if you want to tough it out.
1. Ele’s are pretty squishy right now and to play them well you have to constantly be on your toes. Which means, don’t be in melee, watch your surroundings, keep your shields up if you see a ranged enemy targeting you and/or take them out quickly, etc.
2. If you are trying to go full support don’t. That would be the reason why it’s so difficult. No profession ca be 100% support or at least not without making you worthless. There is only so much healing and buffing you can do before it just becomes overkill. Try for a hybrid build. They usually work out the best and you can fill more than one role. Something along the likes of support/control, support/condition damage, or whatever would probably work a lot better and keep you alive longer and not to mention more useful to your group.
Yes, thank you Arenanet. This is literally the kind of MMO I have been dreaming about playing for the last 9 years, and that just so happens to be the same time I got into mmos, lol.
I can’t wait to see what this game will have to over now that you guys have the awesome and very solid foundation set up. I’m picturing big things!
