Royal Ascalonian Shortbow Bug

I believe the smokey effect on the Royal Ascalonian weapons is not supposed to show while the weapon is stowed on your back. In addition, when you unsheathe the weapon, its supposed to emit a small flash of light (so cool) before the smokey effect begins to manifest. My friend has the greatsword and it’s working properly. Unfortunately my shortbow is not. The smokey effect shows while it is sheathed and when it is unsheathed it does not emit a flash of light.

Bug? Or intended? Either way I am slightly disappointed.

Is there any sort of quest progression or prerequisites that are required before we take on storyline missions? My impression was that you would go through your starting area and eventually work your way up to the storyline missions, but it seems like you can just level up any where you want and the storyline is independent of that?

Either way though, how would you recommend we play?

Hi everyone,

So my girlfriend and I just purchased copies of Guild Wars 2 and I was wondering what might be the best way to play through the game? At first I was thinking we should both roll the same race so that we can play together straight from the beginning, but then I thought it might be more interesting if we both played separate races so that our characters feel more unique.

So my question is, if we play as the same race, is it possible to just make our storyline’s the same? Can we just play one storyline mission and have it completed for the both of us or will we have to run the same mission once for the each of us?

My other question: if we play as separate races, is there anything stopping us from leaving our starter area and joining up with the other? And if so, will playing like this take away from the experience of the game at all?

Thanks for your time,
