First off listen to what Paul says, if you ran memory diagnostics and he asks what you ran and you say windows memory tester.. you did NOT run a memory testing utility. Memtest is really the best option and you really do need to run it for at least 8 hours as many sticks of memory wont show any sign of being bad until they have been stressed for hours and hours. My friends computer was having this issue. Said he ran memtest for 5 hours with no errors. He went out of town for the weekend and let it run for a day and came back to a slew of errors, swapped out the memory and poof the issue was gone.

I’m sorry to see that so many people are still having this issue, i wish my “fix” worked for everyone but apparently it doesn’t. If you have any friends that have extra memory or have some yourself (even if it’s a tad bit slower) try it out. If this fixes your issue congrats! buy new memory or don’t give your friends back.

You should also make sure there is nothing interfering with the connection of your memory (i know most ppl probably already did) but take out your memory/dust the motherboard with compressed air and use an eraser on the memory sticks themselves. Make sure it is a new/clean eraser and don’t push hard, as little pressure as you can on the gold connectors followed by a can of compressed air should do the trick. After this try to run the game and see what happens, sometimes a non-visable spec of dust inbetween the motherboard/memory can create issues.

I’m not sure anyone listed this as a suggestion but i’ve already typed so much i might as well continue. Make sure your memory settings are actually right. 99% of the time you need to configure the timings/speed/voltage of memory to actually have it run correctly. Make sure your voltage on the memory is what it says on the box. And loosen the timings on your memory from what the box says (make it slower essentially). Memory speed and timings have such a low impact on game performance you will only notice the difference in benchmarks.

Other then that i can’t really give any other options as this more than likely has nothing to do with video cards i tried a GTX 275, GTX 295, GTX 450, GTX 470, GTX 560TI,GTX 560TI 448, GTX 580 and last but not least a GTX 580 3gb card. out of these cards i tried single/dual/triple/quad sli setups and after that i figured there is no way it is vram related like some people earlier have stated.

As always make sure the drivers on your computer (MOTHERBOARD) are up to date. If you don’t know how to check what motherboard you have, the easiest way is just to open up your case and look for writing on your mobo. Google it and you’ll find drivers for it.

Potential fix?

For anyone that hasn’t tried.. put it on a HDD that has no paging file, for whatever reason this has completely stopped the problem for me. I’ve been playing now for 3-4 days without a single crash when i was getting a crash every 15-30 min before. Also i did not redownload the game when i put it on my HDD. I simply cut/pasted it to make sure a fresh download wasn’t what was causing it to work for a while. Hopefully you all have a spare hard drive around and can try this. I was to the point of not playing the game anymore because of it and now i can play as long as i want without a crash.

I finally took the game off my raided SSD’s and raided HDD’s and slopped a boring old HDD in my pc. Fresh installed the game there and have had no issues whatsoever today. I’m not sure if switching to a new HDD fixed but i have ZERO page file whatsoever on the HDD i just swapped in today, maybe there is something to it like the poster above stated? The patch does say “Fixed crashing bugs” or something like that. Are people still having this issue?

Aewyn you said you crashed today at login. Was it the same crash? MainCli.cpp or w/e?

Obviously they up the “requirements” to cover their assess. This doesn’t mean that his PSU isn’t faulty and this just happens to be the first game that’s testing it (which makes no sense considering he can play bf3 at 60fps) either way some games are coded poorly and if there is anything about your system it doesn’t agree with problems can pop up. I had the exact problem when i was playing rift on my 950w corsair hx psu with my gtx 295, swapped psu and problem was solved.

Considering most people have an extra psu laying around it’s not hard to test.

power supply related? 520w barely meets the requirements for your card alone.

Don’t talk rubbish, it easily meets the power requirements. You can run a single 7950 on a 520W PSU without any worries, even a 7970 only requires 36A of continuous power from the +12V rail – The Antec that he has puts out 40A.

He could even have an i7 Sandy Bridge in there with a 7970 and it would still be providing enough power.

Please don’t spread false information.

I’m not saying he can’t i’m simply stating what the video card he uses says it needs. which recommends 550w.

Same exact issue here. i’ll explain everything i’ve tried so far. starting with system specs.
i7-920 c0
12gb kingston hyper-x memory
multiple hard drives AND ssd’s to try.
evga gtx 580 3gb
evga x58 e579 classified mobo

This is what i’ve tried, only the last option worked.

*ran memtest – no errors
*swapped memory with 3 different sets from 1-6 sticks of memory. had issues with 1 stick,2,3,4,5, and 6.
*ran memtest on 2nd/3rd pairs of memory – no errors
*loosened memory timings on all 3 sets of memory
*installed on 2 SSD’s and 3 HDD’s
*underclocked my 920 and video card to defaults
*reinstalled the game/ran repair on all ssd’s and hdd’s
*swapped my gtx 580 with a gtx 560 ti 448
*swapped the 560 ti 448 with a gtx 295
*swapped gtx 295 for old gtx 275
*updated drivers for video cards
*downgraded drivers for video cards
*reinstalled windows for kicks at which i updated drivers and only installed gw2 to see if i got issues.

And last but not least the way i fixed this was by swapping my computer with my wifes computer when she was at school.
