I can’t say I’m overly happy with completely changing it to match the male models without reworking the female ones. It basically means we’ve lost a set of options and this legendary armour is going to have less of a distinction between the two than gem store skins. There should be a difference between the two, it’s just that the current difference is so anatomically incorrect it was blatant you just resized the Human female’s version. I can’t really be happy about no rework and just losing a set of options as our ‘best’ option. It just… really screams to me that you’d rather not bother salvaging a mistake and instead would just rather scrap the mistake. Seems like a big waste of resources and a loss of options for the players.
Also, seriously… Asura ears exist. Please stop stuffing them inside helmets they can’t physically fit into and let them pop out the side like they do with the Tier 3 cultural heavy.
I can only speak from the Asura perspective as I have no Charr, but having the same model for both would make the armour set seem about as legendary as the gem store armours we used to buy that were identical for both genders. It definitely needs a rework, because breast plates on a race without any breasts is a bit silly, and, I don’t think any comment needs to be added on the light leggings other than “dear god, why. That butt looks like it’s concealing a tail the leggings are extending that far out at the back”. There should be a distinction between the two else it defeats the purpose of unique and legendary, but the distinction between the two shouldn’t be the current version at all for the light armour. The medium is… interesting. The heavy is actually okay, however. I’ll also add for medium and heavy’s helmet: If legendary armour/legendary precursor armour is just going to remove ears from existence, what makes this set special compared to the million other sets that already clip through everything that isn’t part of a Human’s model?
Something as special and expensive as legendary armour should really be fit for each race’s culture instead of a copy-paste of the Human’s and it’d be a brilliant yet woefully expensive unofficial tier 4 to the cultural armour, by technicality. When a wedding outfit is more culturally fitting to each race than the most legendary armour in the game, you really do have to question the choice…

My current thoughts:
Hammer and the Scrapper traitline is an extremely awkward thing to say the least. I can’t deny for a second this seems to be bloody amazing for WvW and possibly PvP so I’ll jusy be talking about a PvE perspective.
Whenever I trait Scrapper I feel like whatever choice I make after that I’m shafting myself slightly if I want to go for a damaging route. With the sheer power behind Explosives and Firearms and how lacking in synergy Scrapper has at all with Explosives, its still a situation where I either pick explosives pure and simply to run grenade kit, which then nothing much changes, or I sacrifice a clump of damage and go into Alchemy/Firearms/Scrapper for a better synergy.
The same can be said for pistol, I think the auto-attack needs some explosions synergy. And I’m still surprised rocket jump doesn’t apply burning. While Elite Specializations do offer different avenues of play and it not being a hybrid weapon for a change is nice, if the rest of the profession encourages the most damage from hybrid play it does leave you in a bit of a “ehhh… what do?” situation.
I can’t deny its cool and a nice change of pace, and the encouraged synergy between it and flamethrower is glorious, but with hammer and Scrapper traits I feel like I’m nudged towards a tankier yet damage-orientated route such as Soldiers and Knights (yes, yes, or Berzerker if you don’t intend on making any use of Mass Momentum outside of the Might to Stability part), and with the rest of the profession I’m encouraged to hybrid. Maybe go for Scrapper with Rabid at a push, which then doesn’t use the Hammer because, not much condition synergy.
Overall I think its really nice for WvW with a flamethrower kit, but in PvE kits are still the king of the hill which leaves no incentive to even look at the gyros.
I definitely think I’ll be playing a bit of WvW on my engineer now and again, but for PvE I can’t see much benefit unless you go Zerker or Sinister and pick Explosives-Firearms-Scrapper and keep the grenade kit. Which then is really just trading out Rifle for Hammer and again, makes the gyros pale in comparison to your other choices…
Might just be me with that problem. Hope it is.
Grenth hood. Would probably be pretty popular too with the release of that specialisation.
