Uhh.. I tried this multiple times and my clocks won’t change. The preset does nothing. Reckon I’m doing something wrong?

Specs:
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T (3.2GHz)
Kingston 8GB DDR3 1600MHz
2x HD6970 (running in non-crossfirex because gw2 is bad at it)

What does it say in GPU-Z?

I’m running Dual CrossFire 1GB ATI® Radeon HD 5870 graphics cards, but I’m not all that knowledgeable with computers so not sure what values I should be adding.

How do I find out?

The game runs just fine but I thought I’d give this a try to see if it improves at all.

Many thanks in advance

Run GPU-Z to find what your values are on the core clock/memory and voltage, then follow the article on how to make and find the preset(profile), but as your crossfire you will need to input the settings twice instead of once but its not a biggy cause in the article the guy is also using crossfire.

and please other people reading this post be sure to scroll up for important info you may of missed, this isn’t one of them threads you can skim over, well you can but your going to be asking the same question as others since you can’t take the time to read post.

Thank you so much for your help. I have the presets all made up ready and attached (hopefully) the results from GPU-Z.

I’m just stuck now with what to actually change the settings to

Make the first bundle of settings 85000, the second bundle 120000 and the last bundle 0950. Hope it helps!

Ok thanks for that clarification Atrocity! Since you mentioned Trixx for OC, I downloaded it and I was wondering if you could screenshot your custom fan profile because I tested a bit more and it seems that the problem lies with the fan not speeding up when it heats up while on automatic. (long sentence lol)

Yay, I’m not the only one. The ones I’ve liked most so far are Thief and Mesmer but all of my characters are still low level (because I’ve been deleting quite a lot of them to try new ones) so nothing is written in stone yet..

Another thing I’m having problems with is choosing my race. I’ve been playing mostly with human males but I’m starting to be pretty fed up with the model (the all look and sound just the same) so I’ve recently started playing with a couple of male sylvaris. Charrs look pretty neat but the male voice is so shallow that I can’t imagine myself playing with one that isn’t meelee. I’m not a fan of neither the male Norn nor Asura models. The first looks just way too clichéd and the former is too small for my liking. So human, sylvari or possibly charr..

After playing a sylvari up to 50, and a charr up to 30, both male, I can say that if voice acting is an issue, you do not want to play sylvari male. Just when you get into the character his voice becomes boring and sometimes irritable, whereas the charr actor starts to build up emotion and is not half as irritating. The male human is good for voice acting.

As for asura, you should really try one. While they may be small, their personal storyline is very fun, and the voice acting is pretty good too.

Ok, I’m trying to follow this guide but I’m not sure if I’m doing it correctly for my video card.
I’ve got a Radeon 6850 which according to the spec has a 775MHz gpu clock speed and 1000MHz memory clock speed.
So would I change the <Property name=“Want_0” value=“10000” /> over to <Property name=“Want_0” value=“77500” /> under the coreclock target section?

Setting it as that would make it no different to what you currently have it at.

However, I do not know what determines what these values should be in order to get best performance. If Atrocity can come back and explain that would be awesome?

EDIT: Ok, I think I’m really confused about what this fix actually does. When I launch GW2, or any game for that matter, my clock speeds kick up from 300mhz to 900mhz. Does this fix try and overclock your card so that it works much better with GW2? Or does it make it so it is not stuck permanently on 300mhz when playing games (which never happened to me in the first place)?

6700 by all means does not suck, but you might want to consider upgrading that processor because GW2 is surprisingly CPU heavy in regards to graphics

It shouldn’t be a problem that you have a poor processor because this mod only applies to the graphics card, and unless you have very poor ventilation it should be fine.

Hey Atrocity, what make is your HD 6870, because I tried your settings with my XFX 6870 and I proceeded to overheat. It may be a problem with XFX’s version (I’ve heard they changed a few things), but may also be my build’s poor ventilation xD.

"Tanks" needed for dungeons?

When I ran CM, we did it with 5 players, however 3 were elementalists, 1 was a ranger and the last was level 22. The 22, being an engineer, volunteered to throw buffs and healing springs into the area, and this worked amazingly well, we completed the dungeon in about an hour and a half.

As for AC, we had 5 people, 2 elementalists, 1 guardian, 1 ranger and a thief. This group was entirely new, none of us had met and none of us said a word during the dungeon – but we knew how to do it. We used the ‘ctrl-click target’ tool to the extreme to take out each enemy, we had our ranger use healing spring and the guardian and thief got as close as they could and took the aggro from melee enemies, while ranged enemies were continuously condition damaged which stopped them from becoming a huge threat. Even the lovers were really easy (I don’t know what everyone complains about).

I don’t know about the later dungeons (doing TA tonight), but for the first two at least, there is no need for huge amounts of communication (besides the targeting of enemies) in order to beat a dungeon. As long as everyone knows THEIR character well, they are pretty easy to beat. It doesn’t matter if everyone is a glass cannon as long as they know that they’ll have to dodge out the way of ranged attacks, try and keep the aggro on them at a minimum while doing the highest damage output. Moving cleverly so that the enemy is slowed or walks into your attack. Even something as simple as circling the enemy helps to keep your health bar high – because when I see some people fight they just stand there and its no wonder they have a trouble with dungeons because you CAN’T just stand there. You need to think about what you are doing, every move. You don’t need to rebalance your traits every single dungeon – it may need doing ONCE if you went all out DPS and now realise that you need a balance of traits, but as soon as you have this balance you just need to learn your traits, your utilities and your character in order to maximise your contribution while in a dungeon.

I really didn’t want to write a wall, so TL;DR: Balance your trait points, learn your weapon, learn your utilities and dungeons are as easy as dungeons get.
