About Tenacious
Tenacious is a long tenured, multi-platform gaming community of friends and like-minded gamers from around the world. We are large enough to have a presence in multiple games, yet never so large that we forget our roots, never so large that we don’t slow down and get to know our members as friends.
Due to character limits on this forum, you can learn more about Tenacious HERE
The GW2 Vision
The Tenacious GW2 chapter is a casual friendly one. We are truly hardcore at heart, casual by nature.
We will not require members to play any specific profession (class) or any specific builds. We hate the forced “meta” play style that many hardcore groups require. We encourage members to play the profession they like, how they like. So play the game how you like (within the framework of our community rules and charter) and when you like. That’s the true Tenacious way.
Please note, that we do plan to venture into raiding in the future. This may require members to tweek this mentality a bit to help with progression but let’s see how things go!
Recruitment
Yes, Tenacious is recruiting! In fact, we are always recruiting casual friendly gamers for our GW2 chapter (and we always welcome gamers into our Tenacious community). Just head over to our Introductions & Farewells forum and introduce yourself. This isn’t an application process… It’s just a way for us to get to know you a bit better. This isn’t your typical one stop game guild; we are a true community and we want YOU to be a part of it! We have chapters in many different games, so even if you decide to move on from GW2, you can join one of our other awesome chapters!
Our Rules
- We will not tolerate kittenbaggery and thus monitor our reputation at all times. Let’s practice being good human beings! Good human beings that curse like sailors is a plus.
- We will not tolerate cheating. This includes but is not limited to the utilization of: hacks, cheats, bots, or anything that manipulates the core programming of the game.

Guild Alliances
Tenacious is also looking to form guild alliances with other casual friendly communities. Are you a small group that doesn’t want to give up your community tag but would love to play with more like-minded people? Please contact me (Zawr.9206) in game and let’s talk about it. With the ability to share guild chat, it’s better than ever to be a part of both a small guild and a like-minded alliance where we can all enjoy gaming together.

Just bumping for a great community.
Wasn’t sure if I should ask here or in the guild forum, but figured it wouldn’t hurt to just ask here.
I’m a very easy going PvE player. I’ve also recently fallen in love with the Necromancer profession. I know we get some hate now and then from the PvE meta, but I’m not that type of player. I wanna play with people who enjoy playing their way. I don’t mind if it takes a bit longer or if I die along the way… As long as I’m having fun, that’s all I care about.
With that said, is there an all Necromancer guild out there? Just something for fun and not full rep, but I think it would be fun to try some PvX with a full Necromancer group. Anyways, if anyone knows of one, hit me up. I would be interested in playing with more Necromancer buddies.
Cheers!
I have my complaints with the game just like anyone else. I main a Necromancer and sometimes I rage but at the end of the day I really do love this game and the community is amazing when we come together and just enjoy Tyria and all it has to offer.
Nothing wrong with criticism and trying to move things forward, but I do love “feel good” posts from time to time.
Cheers to Anet, GW2, and this community.
That’s awesome. Thanks a ton, Zach! After leveling a few classes to 80, I finally found a class that I just absolutely love to play.
Are there any builds anyone can suggest for the pistol/shield combo?
Today was a good day. =P
(edited by Zawr.9206)
And I guess the important question is, how does a pistol/shield combo compare to a kit build, specifically the meta nade builds?
Does the pistol/shield offer other benefits that the nade build doesn’t that a group would welcome?
Wow, thanks for the great response, Zach. In regards to your answer, I guess I should have entittled the thread as just a pistol build. I actually really enjoy playing with Pistol/Shield as well! In the end, I just really love the main hand pistol and if putting a shield in the off hand means I wouuld be more accepted in that role, I will gladly do so.
With that said, does a pistol/shield combo bring enough to the table that a group (maybe not a min/max group, but just a usual group I guess that isn’t overly concerned with speed runs) would be happy to have me?
This question is in regards to PvE only; specifically dungeon/group content… I do not care about SPvP or WvW.
Just quickly, I recently started an engineer and have fallen in love with the dual pistols (running them with an elixer build). I just really enjoy the gameplay and it’s very fun to me. I know it’s not the meta and I know it’s obviously not the best DPS. I have no issues soloing any content in the open world and zerg roaming is obviously not a huge problem for any class. I am not looking to change to a grenade build. I am just looking for information in regards to dual pistol engineers.
My question is in regards to running such a build in 5 man dungeons. My question is, what does a dual pistol engineer bring to the table in a 5 man group? I do not yet know enough about the class nor it’s mechanics to know if dual pistols (any dual P/P build, not just elixer heavy stuff) are a viable option. I just know it’s a lot of fun to me. Unfortunately, I also understand that “most fun” is not always the most welcomed excuse in a group scenario. So, does a dual pistol setup offer any real advantages in a dungeon? Would someone that knows more than me see me join a group and go, “Yissss! A dual pistol engineer”.
I’m sure the DPS isn’t great. I imagine that others can probably push out more conditions then us? I also assume that others can push out more boons? I really don’t know, I just know it’s mega fun. I just hope that me having fun is not gimping a group in any dungeons.
So, do dual pistol engineers excel at anything? Is there a dual pistol build out there that I should probably look at? Can dual pistol engineers offer their group anything and not feel like they are taking up a space that could go to another zerk warrior?
I am not looking to start a flame war or anything, I just honestly don’t know the answers to these questions and hope that someone with more experience than I can offer me some information.
Thanks for any and all help!

Jon Peters is busy posting in other class forums, specifically the Mesmer forum. As we all know, Mesmers are far worse off than we as Rangers are so just relax, sit back, and enjoy the ride, friends. It’s not like they are ignoring us or anything – this thread was only created 4 months ago they need time to examine our class. I mean hell, they JUST kinda sorta gave us an axe buff!

I think it has more to do with the fact there’s just nothing to say.
I do still believe ranger is the profession in most need of improvement after this patch and we will continue to make those improvements. If we could fix everything at one time we would, but the reality is there are a limited # of hours to make changes.
In the world in which I operate, when something is in the “most need of improvement”, then it gets prioritized and fixed before other less important fixes. I know that’s a weird concept. In this instance, I’ll not point out the obvious with Mr. Peters’ quoted statement but it is why I don’t think we’ll see him back.
Bro, relax! 6 months is not enough time for any man, woman or machine to fix a class as broken as the Ranger is.
/blarg!
Nope…
nope.avi
You will take the Path of Scars “buff” that doesn’t really make the weapon any more valuable and be happy with it!
i marked today as my official retirement from gw2.
And it feels good to move on! Here is to hoping that the future brings better things and a dev team that doesn’t just totally kitten on a particually communities (the Ranger community) hopes and dreams. Peace friends!
Slowly but surely we shall all become Warriors and Mesmers. It’s the way Dwayna intended.
