Like the top of the thread says precursors, in my opinion need too be changed in the sense of how they are acquired. My suggestion is an epic quest trough a massive instance in which the player would go under a number of challenges like a jumping puzzle, a tough boss, something to prove the player’s skill of the game.
Imagine that you went trough an amazing solo dungeon that was so hard and breathtakingly complex yet beautiful, that getting to the end was a great reward itself. Now imagine that the actual reward was the choice of a precursor.
For example you did the dungeon, afterwards you would be able to “brag” about it because other people will know that it was hard, therefore knowing that you deserved the precursor.
Of course that it would still be possible to drop it like we do right now but… It doesn’t feel very epic does it?
– “Hey, I spent 600g trying to get my dusk, thank god it’s over :)”
– “Really, 600g? I threw 4 rare GS in there and got one lol :P”
Isn’t that frustrating? Sure for the few who get lucky it’s great but for us common people not so much.
One more thing that I thought of was for each race to have a different one, each one located… Right in your hometown!
Norn would have theirs in the middle of hoelbrak, Sylvari maybe trough the Pale Tree in a sort of “Second Dream”, etc…
Overall I think this sort of epic content would be a great addition to the game, unfortunately the Devs won’t look at this unless I get help from all of you lovely people.
So please spread this around so that we can have an epic quest a worthwhile precursors!
