[PC] Windows 10 Issues

I have, and that fixed the black box around my mouse issue, but I have discovered what was causing my issues.

EVGA Precision X seems to be the culprit. A friend of mine told me he uninstalled Precision X and he stopped having crashing and cursor issues, so on a whim I tried it as well. No more cursor issues, and I no longer crash on map load.

Your mileage may vary if you’re having similar issues, but I traded out Precision X for Afterburner and haven’t had issues with GW2 on Windows 10 since. Never effected GW2 on Windows 7, but I guess it doesn’t like Precision X on Windows 10.

It very well may not be related to Windows 10, that was the only thing that changed for me besides my video card drivers. Even those I rolled back though, and when I was still on Windows 7, the 353.30 and 352.86 drivers didn’t experience the issues I’m having now.

If it’s happening on other machines that don’t have Windows 10, then I’m at a loss. As with you, I haven’t had issues with any other games on Windows 10 beyond this one.

I played consistently on Windows 7 without any problems, but since updating to Windows 10 I’ve been experiencing a few different problems.

Upon logging into the launcher and clicking play, I am able to get to the character select screen and select a character. Upon loading the map, the game crashes. Worse, if I’m on fullscreen and not windowed fullscreen, my monitor will go black and idle with the “no signal” message until I hard reset my computer (that is, my video drivers fatally crash). Upon launching the game a second time (if I was in windowed fullscreen) the game will load and I will be able to play normally. This happens every time.

Second, if I alt-tab from the game, my cursor disappears and the only way that I’ve found to get it back is to quit the game and relaunch the game. There is also the black box around the cursor issue, but running in compatibility mode fixes that.

The list of things that I have done:
Updated to the latest drivers (video, mobo, etc.)
Rolled back my video card drivers
Uninstalled my video card drivers entirely and started over from scratch
Uninstalled Guild Wars 2 and reinstalled

Have not had any luck so far. When I run the game on my streaming PC and my girlfriend’s computer (both have Windows 7) I do not experience either of these issues.

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 760, Driver Ver. 355.60 (Also tried 353.30 and 352.86)

Might as well bump this instead of making a new topic.

Some changes: I now have an 80 Elementalist and an 80 Warrior. I have experience with EotM and WvW, and I still do PvP somewhat regularly.

Still looking for an active guild to PvE and PvP with. 100% rep time or less doesn’t matter to me, I’m fine with either.

Thanks again for reading!

So I know the title is pretty vague, but I’ve been out of Guild Wars 2 for a while and ultimately decided to come back and am looking to stick around for the long term (for the foreseeable future at least). I’m in the US on EST and I like social/casual RP but I’m not really looking for a super-hardcore RP guild (I’ve been in guilds in the past that got irritated if you ever broke character. Not interested in doing that again).

I have one level 80 Thief that I really enjoy playing, along with four other alts that I am slowly but surely leveling when I take a break from my Thief. I enjoy playing my Thief the most as I have the most fun on that class, and I enjoy doing PvE content and sPvP. I haven’t really done WvW much, but I’m not opposed to it, if I was shown the ropes.

To add on to my PvE experience, I’ve only done a handful of dungeons and have mostly just focused on the personal story content and map clearing, so I’ve done very little as far as dungeon/fractal and other “end-game content” is concerned. I’m looking to change that though, hence why I’m looking to get involved with a guild. The guild I was in before was pretty small and most of them have stopped playing, so it’s basically just myself and my girlfriend playing when she has time.

So yeah. The long and short of it is I’m basically just looking for an RP friendly guild to do stuff with and enjoy the game content. To build on to that, I’d prefer a relatively active guild, as I’m sure I’m not the only one that’s been invited into a guild that has two or three active people in it and the others log on rarely (if at all). Not trying to be a jerk, I’d just like to play with an active group.

Anyway, thanks for reading!

Downed in PvP, what I think needs to be done.

I either think you should bleed out twice as fast (if not more) or it should just be taken out entirely in s/tpvp. It’s more of an annoyance than anything else and it delays/slows the pace of the game. I don’t even like being in the downed state even though I have many ways to avoid getting stomped and I just may have that chance to get back up. I’d just assume respawn and not have to deal with it entirely.

People are always going to complain about something. It’s the nature of multiplayer games. No one’s ever going to be happy, because there’s no such thing as ‘balance’ in these sorts of games – just varying states of nerfs and un-nerfs.

Another thread about Thieves/Heartseeker. This is absolutely original and constructive to the forums as a whole. There are simply not enough of these.

My personal opinion: Heartseeker Ability Is Over the Top
