Yup. The same happened to my Mesmer using an enviromental weapon(rifle that captures minotaurs and drakes on Plains of Ashford).
Now i have to stop playing with him to avoid a possible ban. =/

If you want to cheese: Go to a ledge near the water where you fight Earth Elementals a little south from the Veteran Assassin. It will follow you, sou you go down to the water. He will need to go back to get to the water to reach you. When he does, jump on the ledge, it will need to go back and up the rocks to reach you. Rinse and repeat.
