As cool as the story was. It was us on the South end that got everyone in -_-. Cata taking down the southern west outer and inner (I would know, I was manning the cata XD). By the time you guys got the gate down, we already had quite a bit of people inside.

That being said, MOAR HOLES = win.

(Ogod that could be misinterpreted in so many ways.)

Ah ok, I couldn’t remember if we had guys on the south gate or not. Didn’t mean to leave you guys out.(I added that part in it now)

Long version

April 3, 2013.

Our border was in dire trouble. ET and FC were attacking us both at the time and we managed to get Dreadfall bay down. ET took notice and rushed there. There was war inside, a war that seemed never ending. We were portal bombed numerous times, and FC was hitting towers and camps, but we my friends, WE did not give up. In our hearts we knew something out there that would be lead us to victory, something inspirational, something powerful, something indestructible.

As we the war raged on for about 20 minutes, a fellow guild member that will remain unknown for now, took notice through all the portal bombing, ballista shooting, treb hits, and stench of defeat. He noticed what would eventually lead us to victory. The boat.

The boat soon became a target of win. At it was a joke as we thought defeat was imminent, but the brilliant mind of this superior tactic put an arrow cart on the boat. Everyone was laughing, but we my friends, saw this as a whole new game. The captain of the boat rained down arrows from the arrow cart killing many. Soon we decided to do something more, more my friends more win. We built a flame ram. ET still did not take interest in the boat. Next, a ballista went up and killed more of the enemy.

It did not stop there..no…not once., we built a catapult on the boat. This was no longer just a boat, this was Battleship recreated in game. Some of the ET notice and tried to stop us, but we held on and defeated them. The tides turned and we were portal bombed by the docked and most of us wiped. Though it seemed hopeless….we kept heart. The wall was still down after we were wiped and we headed back in. Meanwhile commander took back half of the south and half of north. Once we got back in, “Back to the boat” the captain said, and about 4 others built the siege again, but they went a step further.

In addition to the ballista, arrow cart, catapult and flame ram, they built another flame ram and 2 more arrow carts as well as another catapult. They killed many ET and they started to take notice. The ET portal bombed the boat, but with strategy of win, we killed many of them and the allies on the hill rushed down to help as well. Soon ET’s actions started to stutter and the battleship kept killing and hitting the gate. They tried again to portal bomb but did not succeed as all stations on the battleship were manned.

At that time another commander and his group were working on the south east gate. As the battle went on, the southeast crew took down the gate, the battleship crew took down mid gate, and we rushed in, and there was a battle in the lord room for about 2 minutes, and we eventually took it. The other commanders took back the rest of the map as well.

Here is the beginning of the battleship

Does anyone know how often the Gates of Arah event happens? I play on Sorrows Furnace and i’ve been waiting a few days so I can access the karma-merchant.

or do people just buy the commander title just for show? i swear when im playing, the commanders do not know how to lead, some will not answer back in the chat, and some will just charge into random battles when we are outnumbered, anybody have these same things?

Commander tag means one thing…you had 100 gold. It implies nothing about someone’s skill, ability, or leadership.

I feel like that is frustrating for others that are having a hard time in wvw, but at the same time there could be good non-commanders who can lead and etc.

It probably is.

It just takes time to figure out though. You run around in a WvWvW setting for a while and you’ll figure out who is a good commander and who is not.

There are commanders I will not follow anywhere. There are commanders I will follow.

That doesn’t mean that that’s all there is, though. Some of the best times I’ve had was running around with a small group led by someone who had no title but knew what he was doing.

Like most things it takes some time and effort to figure out who is who though…just like real life.

I agree 100%

Some will just buy it merely because of “Hey look i’m a commander now” and then during battles, they don’t communicate with anyone.
