I got close to diamond this season. 2 pip away after steady climbing for a month playing 3-4 games a day and never losing more than 2 in a row. Having an off game pretty much always meant a loss. Gave me hope for matchmaking after last season.
Well, now I just loss 9 of the last 10. 1 diamond and 4 rubies on my team, and 5 diamonds on the other team, every game. Unless you’re the type of person who’s dominating legendary, skill doesn’t count for much. Its mostly luck in getting the right teammates.

Only thing worse than the wasted time trying to get to diamond this season (if my luck keeps up), is the time I’ll spend playing pvp next season to get to ruby to complete my collection.

Matchmaking seems good. A lot more enjoyable.

Every game I see a couple of names that I recognize on my team and know that unless I play out of my mind, a win is nearly impossible. Playing my guard is almost no fun because there’s no way I can have as much effect on a game as with the necro. And I NEED to dominate for a win. I lead my team in points pretty much every game, win 2v1s regularly and even then it often isn’t enough for a win. It’s kittening bananas to the extent where oftentimes losing a 1v1 defense on a point pretty much spells doom for the game, the teammates can’t win a fight if I don’t show up to pick up their slack.

And this is my gripe, why the kitten am I always matched up with seemingly the same folks with whom I lose continuously, yet have a revolving door of adversary every game to destroy us.

At the same time, when the losing streak drags on a bit too long, I get matched up with another set of folks I recognize from past games, with this second group we tear kitten up and blowout whoever we’re up against for that game.

How is this a balanced system?

Also, as an edit. kitten can you fix guardian scepter tracking/speed? I shouldn’t miss 60% of my attacks on an target moving in a straight line and 100% of my attacks on someone strafing.

The nature of MMR hell

I’ll add this. Ever since I’ve stopped trying to win, and only play apathetically for 3 games to update my daily participator achievement for backpack; I’ve lost a ton more games than I’ve won (which would be expected). My MMR must have tanked I presume, and since then, I’ve pretty much stopped having auramancers, reapers and scrappers in my teams (basically the stronger specs I feel). I guess it’s more unlikely people playing those specs would get stuck in my MMR range.
I’ve mostly stopped giving a F|u|ck about pvp, so I’m not bothered by this; but it is ridiculous for a game who’s devs wish to be considered competitive to have such a re|tar|ded matchmaking system in place.

Ruby division makes people hate PvP

Ruby is hell. Once I ranked up to it, I could never get a 3 game streak going. ALWAYS got stomped on the 3rd game after winning 2. And pretty much lost one for every game won.
At this point, the games I win, I would still win being AFK; and the games I lose, I would lose no matter how good I play . Really makes you question the matchmaking.

And I’ll say, I’ve pretty much stopped trying to win. I put the bare minimum effort to get credit for the game so my daily participator achievement updates (for the pvp backpack), and stop playing after 3 games. And its quite easily the WORST part of my day, everyday I log in. Looking back on the games I’ve played since hitting ruby, I feel that same level of apathy was shared by a lot of players on the teams I ended up on.

Also worth noting, I bought the core game at pre-release, but felt Heart of Thorns wasn’t worth its asking price. (I Play mostly Guardian and Necromancer)
I’ve felt that once you reach a certain point (in my case ruby, “ymmv”), the skill gap closes enough so that you’re faced with trying to beat elite specializations and not the players. A much greater number of 1v1s end up with you losing; which is really disheartening considering you can’t help but feel you’ve lost, not because of skill discrepancy, but because the game handicaps players who don’t pay for more powerful options.
TL;DR… game is pay2win after the (now removed) entry fee.

I understand that ANET wants to sell expansions, but this didn’t happen back in GW1 when Faction and Nightfall came out with 2 new classes each . Maybe If ANET wanted to sell more boxes, they should of put more content in them, or sold them at a reasonable price, instead of shortchanging everyone who owned the core game.

Path of Ascension, League Threshold Question

I recently made it to ruby league while working on path of ascension 1 (late start), as I crossed the threshold to ruby I had an achievement unlock for tier 1 of the “league champion” achievement for Path of ascension 3.

Supposedly I’ve crossed 4 threshold at this point. (Path 1 = 1 threshold + Path 2 = 2 threshold + Path 3 = 1 threshold at tier 2)

Does the jump to amber count as a threshold? Or am I going to lose 1 tier of this achievement once I complete path 1?

Yep, 2 weeks, one patch… but no fix. Everything as expected from this company now.
Can we profit out of doing this work? No. Well lets not bother then! Instead, lets push out more content at insane prices; like Heart of thorns, a DLC priced like a full expansion! Or all these new useless skins on the gem store, only 10$ a piece!

Guess I’ll be playing dota2 for the next while, a game from a still reputable developer.

Hey Anet, could you take the time to fix gem bought content instead of adding new useless stuff to the gem store. One NPC interaction can’t possibly take two weeks to fix…
Did you fire all your programmers to replace them with “managers”? Less meetings, more fixing the game please.
