so again we are different. where I just block them. you take the extra childish step to report them for saying something to you on a computer game in hopes they get out in a timeout by daddy. this isn’t real life, do you really feel threatened or get upset from what someone says to you on a game chat? sad what a thin skin society we live in now days. omg he told me l2p and used bad words waaa plz ban he hurt me
I’ve never reported anyone (other than bots/gold sellers), but if I had someone that I ddn’t know making personal attacks on me, sure I’d report them, teach them a lesson that they clearly need to learn.
As for society, last time I checked it wasn’t acceptable to hurl abuse at strangers.
It is pretty simple, if you are unable to play a computer game without hurling insults at individuals, then you need to grow up.
Don’t watch the news who label people based off of their opinions? Don’t read anything about politics? They hurl abuse at people they don’t know all the time. OK with abortions then you’re a murder.
Ethically, it’s up for grabs on the abortion issue. I’m not sure what point you are trying to make. I tend to agree with the poster you are arguing with because insulting does nothing to improve the overall game experience for anyone but the moron chuffing off insults.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
GW2 is not a government agency. This amendment speaks specifically to government. As a private citizen, it does NOT mean there are no consequences for your exercise of free speech from other citizens.
Uhm, you cant level to 80 in 4 hrs. Assuming youare talking about being bumped ip to 80 for wvw, this is practical as they want people on some what level playing field…and adhere to the “level the way you want”.
Buying gold via the game wont get you kto 80. Explain this please.
It can with maxing multiple crafting proffestions .
The most I’ve ever seen going is about 12 levels.
Here is a guide:

I haven’t tried this, but I’ve used Cedega and Wine to run other games (like Rift). I believe support for GW2 is Bronze (lowest level that will run).
OSX, I crash BUT this needs to be fixed...

I am still running snow leopard, which is not supported, but have no problems running the game. Just sayin’.
I’ve been running it with settings turned pretty low on a 2009 iMac 27 (core 2 duo, ati 4650) and getting 30-42 FPS. The game is CPU crazy, so a faster box should do fine.
There are a couple of things I can add to this: 1) healing makes a HUGE difference. I was instancing with a group of guys I know and, playing a healing Ele in the group, they had a much harder time completing their runs without me and 2) Rezzing in this game is like a big heal in others. If you trait / signet / etc. for the rez, you can make an enormous difference – the only downside is that, with a couple of minor exceptions, you have to teach people how to “die well”.
Healing as a dedicated profession is very difficult (impossible), but being a good utility player makes all the difference in the world.
Funny. I didn’t want to like this game. I loved the original GW when it was in Beta, but changes they made to the game prior to going live just left me cold.
I’m actually playing more. How people can get so bent out of shape about a few pieces of marginally better gear is beyond my ken. Truth is, I think the game will not suffer for gear increases as long as they are 1) marginal and 2) have significant tradeoffs.
I’m enjoying the game quite a bit. Guess that makes me flameworthy.
Perhaps I just expect less. I take the “Game experience may change” disclaimer to be the most truthful and quotable statement by any company. So, while I confess that I can be very disappointed in a game (Rift and their severe nerfs to classes on a regular basis, for example), and I did follow this game closely because a lot of the areas they were gleeful about in terms of design, I believed would be disasters. In some cases, I was right (I think), but in many more, I was incorrect.
And, for some reason, I’m enjoying the game. I almost feel guilty about that.
It’s a great game. The ascended gear just poisoned it for me. I think if you didn’t follow it’s development and what it was suppose to be you’d find that this is a great game.
I have NO PROBLEM with people liking the game, like I said it’s a great game but I do take offense to the people who attack the people who are upset at the game for taking a different direction then what they’ve said they were going to do for YEARS. I believe people who have followed the development of the game do have a reason to gripe when there’s a pretty big change in the direction of the game, they didn’t just invest 60 dollars for a copy of the game, they invested a lot of time reading and believing what a company was saying about the development and direction of this certain product.

I hate to ask another question, but for the life of me I can’t get weapon swapping to work. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong. The "H"ero page doesn’t show any way to do it, the keystroke “`” does nothing and switching by going to the hero page is VERY slow.
Any help would be appreciated. And again, sorry to be such a dolt.
My experience with RP is that those servers are peopled by nice folks. Up to the point where you actually try to learn to RP. At that moment, you are ridiculed and teased incessantly.
I still like RP servers. But any interest I had in actually RPing has been squashed. Not by the game. By the community of RPers.
I do object, however, to being categorized poorly simply because I don’t RP. The first post is a very mild and disguised version of what I experienced when I tried to learn.
I will have fun my way, whether crunching numbers or blissfully ignoring chat – I don’t need to be tarred and feathered again for not knowing what I’m doing around my keyboard (and for the record, a lot of you have already read some of my stuff – I’m an author).
Enjoy the game.
@kindeller
FB for the win.
Thanks for not flaming my post. After re-reading it, I realized it was definitely flame-worthy, at least to those enamored of the game.
I ~want~ to like this game. I was on for about two hours today and there was not a single comment in chat. I’m wondering if I have to do something to turn it on?
I just feel like I’m running around fairly aimlessly killing x numbers of this and y numbers of that. Nobody talks in chat. The quests seem to peter out. I have no idea how crafting works because I have no idea how to gain a craft.
My warrior seems pretty fragile at the moment. I expect to have issues with a new game. I don’t expect to be turned off so quickly, so I’m trying to figure out what I’m missing. The manual being so complete.
I just hit level 5. Admittedly, that’s a baby step. But I’m bored to distraction. Does the game change significantly after the starting zone for the Char?
I haven’t done my homework on this game – I admit that. But with all the hype from the Intarwebs and my circle of acquaintances, I expected something…different, I guess.
