So I’ve finally found a way to prevent the GW2 client from crashing every time I’m logged into the game for more than 2 minutes on my computer. I’d actually have to hard reboot it every time, which was seriously pissing me off.
Specs of my computer:
Win7 64 bit service pack 1
core i7 2720 QM @ 2.2 GHz – 8 cores
8 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M – 2 GB graphics memory
679 GB HDD
What I had tried so far:
-updating graphics drivers
-reinstalling client
-repairing client
-changing cpu cores that the client ran on
-disabling all unnecessary services
-changing graphics to the lowest setting
-making sure graphics card settings were application controlled
-running program as an adminstrator
-connecting directly to my router
What finally worked was when I installed the client on my crappier laptop. Amazingly enough, I’ve been able to play the game consistently for two days now, no crashes at all, minimal lag, no issues with freezing or the client. It’s obviously not that much of a downgrade, but I really have no other explanation. It’s the same internet connection, but somehow it works! So if you have another computer lying around that isn’t as good as your GW2 computer, give it a shot (: It might actually work better!
Specs of my old computer:
