Seems to be the same issue as this thread. Me and my girlfriend are both having issues getting into certain maps, whether it’s logging in on a character that’s already there, or going there through portal or WP. Seems to be a widespread issue.

Yup, getting the same error when trying to enter Blazeridge Steppes, both by portal and by waypoint (the game does take my silver for the waypoint though…). My girlfriend was having issues logging in to a character in LA too, but could log in to characters in other maps with no issues.

Same thing happened to me and a friend, did it with 3 people, and only the instance owner got them unlocked. Doing the story with two people worked just fine in the earlier beta weekends.

To recast my earlier post in “constructive criticism” format:

To recap: The problem for us was that as a group with all new characters (one of us an actual new player), we had just reached level 20 and unlocked all waypoints in Kessex Hills the day before, just so we could take part in the event. However, the only invasion that happened during our online window was in Brisban Wildlands. That was a bigger disappointment to us than the unattainable rewards.

So my suggestion is: if you’re going to aim an event at new players, with a target level of 18 (or whatever the target level is), please make sure that the event is fully accessible for players who have only just reached that level, and the expected map access that comes with that level – even on release day.

In this case, for the Mordrem invasion event, the invasion could have easily been made to be running in all 3 maps at the same time, and you could participate in any of the maps, depending on what race you started with. With the mega-server system, there shouldn’t be an issue with more people choosing one map over the others.

Other options could be considered too. For example, the Priory researchers could have offered portals to the map with the active invasion. Of course, new players would still not have access to all waypoints in those maps. However, if enough of the events are within running distance of each other, that shouldn’t be too big of a problem, and you could unlock some on the go.

Also, as I’m sure other people have asked before: please don’t have an 1 1/2 hour downtime between events. That ate up most of our play time window that night…

Hope that was helpful.

I see a lot of comments about how bad some of the rewards and lack of XP gain are for new players, but I also want to point out the problem that you need access to three maps with all their waypoints to properly participate in this event.

This event was supposed to be suitable for level 18 characters. However, you can’t expect level 18 characters to have all of those unlocked. Our guild had started new human characters recently to play with a new member, and especially for this event, we made sure to level up to about level 20 and have at least the waypoints in Kessex Hills unlocked – which was already a bit of a stretch considering the time we had available, but we did it. By the time the event started, though, it turned out it the action was only happening in Brisban Wildlands.

So if the intention was to welcome new players with this event, this is another way that it has fallen short.

Kind of sucks that this event was directed at the new players, probably to show what they can do with events a as live content. And it went live so broken.

That’s what I thought, supposedly aimed at level 18 characters. But then why are we expected to follow the event through 3 different maps? Level 18 characters can hardly be expected to have all the waypoints on one of them unlocked, let alone all three of them. We had made sure our new characters that our guild had started last week to play with a new member had Kessex Hills unlocked, only to find out the event (when it finally started) was taking place in Brisban Wildlands… Another design flaw, if you ask me.
