Guild Wars 2

I continue to have this problem on Windows 7; when the launcher tries to load, the login button takes forever because whatever is loading in will often go right down to 0 KB/s. Often it comes up with a “Connection error detected. Retrying…” My suspicion is that this is due to heavy login numbers and not enough servers/routers. This likely seems a Anet problem which, until there are enough people unable to get on and complaining about it, will not be resolved.

Location: MI, US. — Server: Ehmry Bay -- Zone(s): Kessex Hills, Gendarran Fields, Bloodtide Coast, Wayfarer Foothills, Snowden Drifts, more (presumably all PvE).

Disconnect (same) problems. Seem to occur when areas change, but may be independent of that also. Game displays the “Lost connection to server” error and defaults to main menu. Some lag issues also.

Makes leveling and doing dailies and events very difficult.

I am not the most upset about the fact that I missed the event; I am more upset that I was misled about the event before it started. From everything I had read about this event and past experience with GW2 and GW1 I expected the event to run multiple times during the same period, such as EVERY OTHER FINALE has EVER been run. Sure the Super Bowl is a special event, but even that repeats once a year. You can watch reruns or have it recorded and watch it later. It’s easy for people who got to participate to say ‘oh well you missed it that’s your own fault’. But I think those of us who feel we weren’t informed well before the event started (which is potentially everyone) because of poor communication about the exact nature of the event – which wasn’t up to us – also have a legitimate complaint.
There are a lot of things I miss as a result of my work and other reasons. When I feel like something is important, I make time for it. I really wanted to participate in this event; I didn’t even know how great the rewards were, I just wanted to join in. But if ArenaNet can’t make time to clear up their own miscommunications and mistakes – which we all know are frequent and many – well, then maybe it isn’t worth it for me to keep participating in their nice little world I like so much.
Sure it’s easy to whine and complain; and it’s easy to dismiss all of this as such, as well. I would have planned things differently if I had known that the event would be like this.
I really like this game, and what I like the most is participating in the storyline; but if I don’t get to do that, I don’t know if I want to keep playing… Maybe that’s what you want, and if so that’s fine. You want a game where only a few hundred players have the most leet loot and can kick the most butt. Fine. That won’t be my game of choice tho.
