Mining orichalcum at level 2...

Probably why ori prices are falling, people are exploiting this.

How is this an exploit? Equipping a pick has bupkiss to do with your level. If they don’t want a lvl 2 using a tool, then level restrict it. None of the mats are bound to lvl but to the quality of the tool being used. Exploit my hairy kitten

Its an exploit, similar mining tools have level restrictions. Like my ori sickle is level 60. Karma tools seem to lack this level restriction for the same basic item. There was that karma weapon fiasco early on in the game that a few people got banned for. and the recent snow flake jewelry crap was also cause of exploiting a slight difference in the recipe from other similar recipes.

Theres fractal DR though.

Bots work around it, Players deal with it.

DR would be fine if they told you when it kicks in. Like how hard would it be to have an icon with a timer to pop up saying DR -15% MF or something like that.

Not telling people when it kicks in or expires pisses people off, does nothing to bots, and punishes normal players for playing their game.

Gold Sellers controlling Precursor market

I am almost sure gold sellers controling Precursor’s market. Today my guildie got from MF The Colossus. he was hoping to get it cuz actually only one precu Hammer was posted on TP with price 550g. He was very lucky and got one! Set the price 499g to sell it fast. Withing few hours hammer was sold and in few minutes later someone listed another Colossus with price 530g. You don’t have to be Einstein to find it was the same item reposted with higher price. The question is – Is there enough rich and stupid player to buy it for 499 and repost it for price 530g ( 450g income)?

As you point out, if someone bought out your friend’s Colossus for 499g and relisted for 530g, they are making a net loss (list fee of 26.5g plus sales tax of 53g). I don’t see why a gold-seller (or anyone else trying to manipulate the precursor market) would do this, especially as they would be undercutting their existing listing at 550g. This makes me think that it is unlikely to have been the same Colossus that your friend sold.

Theres actually logic behind doing it that way. Say I have 10 precursors. I list 2 on the market( that I got for 80g). for 110g and 120g. You sell yours for 100g. I buy you out and relist it at 105g. When all 3 sell out, I still make a net profit. AND I get the added benefit of selling my items faster and also creating an artificial demand for what I am selling.

Hate to admit this but I do this on commodities. If you undercut me by 1c I will buy all your stock to prevent a deflation in the price.

Its not just someone making a profit, TP traders/middlemen are creating hyper inflation in the economy making gold less valuable for everyone including themselves.

I agree with The Blue Ace above. Theres nothing to do. I have everything for a legendary except a precursor. I had 200g in the bank and just as a last ditch attempt, I burned it all mfing exotics with nothing to show for it. Whats the point in farming when DR punishes normal people? DR does not affect bots in the same way, bots are fine farming porous bones because they “play” so much it accumulates into a decent gold per minute rate.

John Smith’s views on the economy are off. There is hyper inflation going on, and he doesn’t even see it. You won’t notice it in the majority of items because most items are garbage at lvl 80 and those items will float around vendor price (This is pretty much scrap value). For most long time players there is only 1 item left to buy, and that is a precursor. The precursor is your consumer price index since any other item is not really necessary (gear doesnt wear out like clothes). Now take The lover for example. The lover has jumped from 240g to 500g in 3 weeks. It more than doubled in 3 weeks.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Any qualified economist can see that this is a real issue. It would be like if the price of gas per gallon in the US tomorrow is $12. Everyone would freak out.

Free market does not mean an unregulated market. Theres a reason why monopolies get broken up and why the US government regulates the price of objects like Milk.

If anyone is to blame for ruining this game, it is the economist. The economist in GW2 has removed all incentives to play. He has basically created a carrot that disappears the more you walk. So why would any horse keep walking?
