wvw is pve
pve is wvwI don’t agree with that. In WvWvW your foes are other Players which definitely places it in the realm of PvP. It might be pseudo-PvP, but it is still fighting other Players.
Agreed 100% with the OP. Players who love PvE and don’t like PvP are annoyed and really don’t want to be in WvW. Players who love WvW probably don’t want the explorers/pedestrians in there anyway.
Yes there is pvp in wvw, but winning can be achieved exclusively by completing pve objectives so it kinda makes it pve.
Someone also said that this forces people to server transfer… i finished wvw about 5 days ago, never changed server, i fought for it for 4 weeks, no once forced me to do anything.
I wanted world completion so i did it, if you don’t think the reward is worth the effort, then simply don’t do it. If the developers just removed every thing that bothers someone we would probably get to the point where we would get monthly by simply logging in once a month, legendaries would drop from story mission lvl1 etc

you can use skills, you just dont see the target, bad thieves will badly position themself, use that to your advantage.
its the same(well not exactly the same, but similiar) as in normal state, you cannot see the thief but you sure as hell can hit him with your aoe and even normal single target skills
taemek i never said thief doesn’t benefit from stability and that he can never get knocked back while stomping.
But if you get downed by a thief and he recieves stability from guardian for example, then he is a fool to even waste initiative on stealth since he can stomp you without it.
Why are just going in circles now. Stealth stomping isn’t a problem because there are more reliable ways to get a stomp off. The only thing devs need to look at is quickened stomps, and if they see fit they should change it. simple as that
GADefence which class are you playing?
stealth stomp is the same as stability stomp, only difference between the 2 is that you cannot get knocked down when you have stability on you. the only 2 classes that don’t have stability on (regular,not elite) utility skills are necro and thief.

@iruwen
I dont have much spvp experience (around 100 games played since i got the game 2 weeks ago) but lot of times when i got downed, my teammates came to me, used their aoe interrupts and knockdowns and simply revived me. While i’m on my p/d thief, i got knocked down so many times while i tried to stomp from stealth it’s not even funny.
The thing is, stealth stomping has its counters, its just that you are requried to be out of zergy mentality that 95% of spvp players seem to be stuck in, including you
but it is not over for you, do you have teammates? This game was balanced as a team game, lot of class mechanics are here to supplement other classes. Downed state is in the game to give you a fighting chance until one of your teammates gets you on your feet. key word: teamplay
I admit stealth classes are OP against clueless players in all mmos, nothing new there tbh. I just wish people would step up their game and realize that they are easily countered, it would make their playtime more enjoyable
Well i agree on the quickness part, it should only improve the speed of weapon and utility skills, not stomping.
The problem is, whenever i see organized teams playing paid tournies it’s these small things like mistform stomps and stealth stomps that matter in the end. I was watching this team streaming yesterday and their opponents couldnt kill even one of them because they were so well coordinated with ressurects and control over players who tried to stomp their teammates.
it really is a strong feature of thief profession, but other professions can get same results with stability, and eles can do it with mistform, so i wouldn’t say its unbalanced.
Have you tried using aoe knockbacks and ressing downed player? Not every profession has that but i dont think this game is balanced around 1v1.
How would you guys deal with it? simply remove “finish them” button while thief is stealthed or…?
no offense man, but i tried to disprove some of the posters here that think pvp in gw2 is dying cause of some dumb reasons that can be explained by lack of ability to improve (someone said 1v2 is imposible, skill is not a factor etc) we dont need posts like those, so i argued them. we need more posts like yours…thats all
phaeris, click on the link i gave in my post, go to 1 minute 24 seconds and watch what happens. after that, come here and tell me that i was the only one who saw him switch weaponsets (you claim he did not) and that he used dagger/dagger skill 3 (again, you claim he did not use 2,3 or 4).
even a competent player will have trouble interrupting your stomp if you use stability.
and downed state doesn’t mean you are out of the fight, if that were true what would be the point of having downed state in game? if your health reaches 0 you are dead and out of the fight, downed state is here to give you a fighting chance even after health reaches 0.
except he didnt use 2 keys to win. anyone who saw that video will know you are not telling the truth lol, why would you even waste time typing false info
the point that i’m trying to make is not that gw2 pvp system is great (ofc it has problems), but skill does matter, 1v2 is possible, and there is versatility in builds
first part of that video is him (thief) doing 1v2 against not one but 2 thieves.
how come he won with all those rendering issues etc, his opponents were also poorly rendered
@anthonyzdravko
downed state makes 1v2 impossible? no skill? …
