Thanks to everyone that expressed interest in joining us! We’re still looking for a couple more skilled and mature people to join us so feel free to contact us if you’re interested

While we are certainly happy to teach (since the way every group runs dungeons will be slightly different), due to the nature of speedruns, they do require a certain skill level and familiarity with both the dungeons and your profession (eg. aware of how to use different weapon and utility skills to contribute to team synergy and smoother, quicker runs). We strongly recommend watching the relevant speed run videos of more prolific dungeon groups so you have a good idea of how typical runs work

Dragons
Guild Wars 2 has a dragon on the box cover. The primary motivation for players on their 80-level journey is to kill a dragon. So yeah, giant, winged beasts are a part of Tyria, they’re core to the game, and we haven’t forgotten about them. That stated, I can’t say when we’ll return to them—only that we will. There is a plan in place.

Thanks Bobby for the explanation. I gather from the quoted section that there doesn’t seem to be any plans in the near future to continue on with the storyline of the Elder Dragons, which I personally find somewhat disappointing.

Of course, much of the subsequent LS releases would already have been planned out, so that’s understandable. However, given the amount of existing lore that is available to be expanded upon (new regions, several other dragons that players are expecting to encounter), I didn’t think there was much need to develop a whole new arc that seemingly detracts from the main storyline of fighting dragons. It gives me the impression that the developers thought there wasn’t enough content available, and therefore such ‘filler’ arcs had to be put in place to prolong the experience. However, even if instead of expansions, the developers decide to use LS as the means for new content, at a staggeringly fast pace of unlocking one new map a month towards, for example, Cantha or Elona, to head towards the next dragon, it would still easily take a year before we encounter the next dragon, giving the game several years worth of content. This includes making use of the current meta-events that the LS uses to provide content for players to do, but directed towards dragons rather than other villains.

So given the amount of lore that it seems a lot of players are excited about (more dragons, more new continents), and of course a lot of old players probably bought the game for, these arcs with seemingly unintuitive alliances and side villains do feel to me like filler content. Perhaps this is because the game was built up to give players the impression that the dragons are the big enemies in the game. And therefore it can be difficult to be excited about.

I think judging from some of the responses here, a lot of people will be very excited if the LS takes a turn towards the next dragon after the conclusion of the current arc, since it will feel like the main content they were waiting for.

I hope that helps!

Hi everyone,

A couple of friends and myself are looking for a few like-minded, (very) mature and skilled friends to join us on casual dungeon speedruns during Oceanic/SEA evenings (GMT+8 to GMT+11). We have a network of friends that we occasionally run with, but inactivity and timezone differences are usually an issue.

We’re part of a little guild of mine based in Sea of Sorrows, but representation is not a requirement (we do stuff together regardless of what guild we’re representing). It’s easy to do guild missions with other guilds; we don’t really want to put pressure on anyone to transfer servers, and we’re not after fame (fame tends to attract the wrong kind of crowd for us), so we see little need to set up representation requirements. If you do join us, however, any representation is definitely appreciated

Who we are:

We’re familiar with most classes and have multiple geared lvl 80s for use in dungeon speedruns. We’re experienced with all dungeons and FotM 48, using optimal builds and the kinds of tactics seen in more prolific dungeon speed run guilds. We really enjoy teamwork and having smooth, quick dungeon runs.

The friends we are looking for:

  • Are skilled with their class/es (ie. understand their classes very well and what each class can bring to a speedrun group)
  • Have good teamwork and communication
  • Are generally experienced with how different dungeons/encounters work (frankly, much of this can be learned just from watching a couple of speed run videos if you sincerely are interested in learning)
  • Are very mature – always respectful of everyone at all times, do not enjoy showing off or putting others down, no swearing/trash talking
  • Play during Oceanic/SEA evenings (anywhere from 6pm to midnight, GMT+8 to GMT+11) a few nights a week.

If you’re not from Oceania/SEA, we’ll still be glad for you to join us, but you’ll probably be happier in another NA/EU based guild as from our experience it’s not worth the strain in your real life joining us at odd hours (unless of course your real life so happens to leave you free during NA mornings or EU during the day!)

We are, unfortunately, not looking for people who:

  • Are not team players
  • Do not enjoy improving their skills to make runs more efficient
  • Like to show off or flaunt their wealth/knowledge, be it directly or ‘cleverly disguised’ (It’s not that hard to tell..)
  • Are after fame
  • Like to put others down, swear/trash talk or otherwise not be respectful of everyone else at all times
  • Are looking for a large guild/community

If you’re interested in joining us for some runs or have any questions, please feel free to contact me via PM or mail in game. Thanks for reading and we hope to hear from you soon
