I just had the same response that it cannot be turned back on. I only turned it off because the system NEVER once asked for permission from 2 locations, this being after the verify button vanished after clicking a link they sent me that failed with same sort of error in first post.

I used the self help to turn it off as suggested if one was having issues with the system, with only a warning that you would need a good password, which I can understand. But it did not warn that it could not be turned back on. I logically thought I could turn it off, then back on and get the verify button back on the login screen.

It is simply mind boggling how this system is so hard for them to get working properly and needs to be fully fixed and allow the enabling and disabling of the system and the current status within the My Account section, which seems pretty useless as an account management area. Please fix this as this extra layer of security which never worked for me to begin with is now apparently not able to even be turned back on.

I just managed to log back in after having some issues which i thought was related to attempting to change email address to another one and back so I might be able to verify again. It ended up doing nothing at all when clicking save changes.

I do now have a support ticket in to fix up this email authentication problem. I cannot believe how hard it is to get this working properly. But no my account has not been compromised, but I really need to get this email thing fixed ASAP before anything does happen.

I am also having major issues with this system. I clicked the verify button a few times during the headstart I think it was and received 2 emails after quite some time. One link gave a “link expired” message and the other a random error.

Since then the verify button has been missing. I never received confirmation of the system being turned on or to even give permission to play. I also logged into the my account section from a work location and it gave access without asking for permission, so it cannot have been turned on.

I just used the disable authentication system to turn it off , hoping the button to re-verify would become available again. Nope, nothing. Can’t get it on at all. The My Account part of the support system says absolutely nothing of any value except connection IP’s. Nothing about the state of authentication etc, unlike steam which makes it very clear if steamguard is on or off.

This needs fixing.
