I have an AMD FX-8120 proccessor that runs GW2 pretty good. So with Turbo Core Boost I get a stedy 60+ fps when PvE-ing and in sPvP. In WvW I get anywhere from 35 to 60 fps from the highest loads.
The problem is that I have a cooling issue. This CPU runs at 3.4 Ghz with turbo boost, on all 8 cores but hits 59-60C(in Guild Wars 2) and at 61C its starts droping its Voltage and its Frequency. When I start a recording program it hits 61C and it becomes unplayable.
When I stop my Turbo Core Boost via BIOS, it still runs at 3.1 Ghz on all 8 cores and get no more than 55-56C degrees and with a recording program I get to no more than 58-59C degrees.
But I can not get more than 40 fps at PvE and in WvW , well its from 40fps to less than 20fps, not ideal for recording.
I can not comperhand what the deal is. My brother is playing GW2 from his laptop that has 2.7 Ghz Dual Core Intel CPU and a GT540m VGA and has more fps then me on 8 cores each with 3.1Ghz
CPU: AMD FX8120
VGA: NVidia GTX650 Ti
RAM: XyperX 2x 4GB 1333mHz
MB: GigaByte GA-970A-DS3
HDD: WD 500GB 7200rpm sata2
I droped the stock cooling cuz it was way too noisy at high temps. Went to 5000rpm+
I’m currently running an Arctic-cooling Freezer 13 and installed a second 120mm FAN at the back for better air circulation.
Atm the room temp trough the day is around 30-35C and at night 20-30C.
