Other games sell their expansions for cash shop currency. I am disappointed that Anet has decided not to. I will make sure that no one buys me or my kids Gem cards for gifts anymore. That will be a revenue loss to Anet.

I tried the search feature but didnt find any reference to gems usage.

I havent found the expansion in the gem store, only the preorder using a credit card.
I have two $25 (2,000 gem) cards from XMAS.
Can I use those to pre-order the expansion?
If not, why not? Just put the preorder in the gem store for 4,000 gems and I’ll do it.

I wouldnt want a dungeon queue that dumped me with random people

A quick improvement would be a /dungeon chat channel that was server global (not map specific). At least you could be grinding events in Orr and see requests for one more for CM from a group in Queensdale.

Some kind of LFG tool that was server wide would be better. Even one where someone could start a group and give some memo about what dungeon they would do and you could see the memo and whisper them to get an invite.

In GW1 the special event finales would happen every 3 hours for an entire 24 hours period so more people could attend them. Phase 1 and 3 could easily have been done like that so instead of 3 one-time events the friday and sunnday events (including the one with the big rewards) could have been repeated to let more people participate. The rewards chest could check if the achievement was done and give toned down rewards after the first event.

The Karka need some work. The big Karka should at least have grey/brown shells and turn pink when you kill them the first time so you can visually tell the shell is gone. A separate shell cracking animation instead of duplicating the death animation would be nice also.

Still, I had some fun and think this sort of event is better than just releasing a patch with a new zone.

I have achieved everything except the WvW for the monthly every month so far.

Tens (hundreds?) of thousands of people are in the guild wars world every day. It seems to me that you could make some money using this population to sell in-game advertising.

Imagine a farmer with a produce stand and a field full of dark reddish cows selling… Red Bull energy drinks. I know you can track player population passing through which should make it easy to prove and justify an advertising revenue stream.

How about a vendor in Lions arch near the crafting area that sells Oreo™ cookies, Hostess Cupcakes, Ore-Ida potatoes or Land-o-lakes Butter?

What if I could get a code off my Pringles potato chip lid that would give me a recipe to make Cheddar Cheeze flavor pringles in-game? Imagine the potential promotions for players to get name-brand food recipes and the cross advertising with these sorts of products could give GW2.

Given the trend toward F2P payment models, I think this kind of advertising monetization will eventually become common as an additional revenue for game developers. Just a thought …
