Thank You all for counselling! Forgot to add that yes, I have found out about waypoints, the issue was when I roam to new areas.

GW2’s weird quest system forces me to open up google and search for effective methods to lvl as I’d like to advance in the main storyline.

./facepalm Stopped reading after this… have you ever played a video game before?

Shouldn’t feed the troll but here goes:

I began playing videogames when I was 5 years old and didn’t even understand English. I began to play with NES and later on with PS1 and 2 when they came up. I haven’t been an MMO player that long, SWtOR was my very first MMO I took ‘seriously’.

GW2 is just so different compared to other MMOs. Am I not allowed to be almost clueless on my first week of GW2 experience?

Heart quests are meant to take you deeper into the map. Usually there are events that pop up that lead you to Hearts. Kinda like breadcrumbs to guide you. As long as you do these events, you’ll get enough XP to level. And as you level, more of the game is opened up. Also, grab WayPoints along the way, so you can quickly port to locations on the map.

This isn’t a game where you can just start a new character, and blaze through content. It takes a little effort to get stronger. Once you hit higher levels, you can do more dungeon or raid type events.

I’ve done the heartquests and events I’ve been able to complete/find along the way but even after doing every one of them as they come by, I find myself still lacking in lvls even for the heartquest’line’ of the map. And yes, I always use the scout to locate new heartquests.

And yes, I’m aware that I’m able to raid and PvP on higher lvlels. But as I said I find myself struggling in the basic content.

Hello.

I’m a new player. I began my adventure on this week’s Monday and I’m about to give up on this game (unfortunately). My highest lvled char is currently just lvl 13. Stuff that has irritated me since I began to play have just became stronger and stronger and making my game experience rather unpleasant (which shouldn’t be the case). I would want to continue playing this game but at my current status how I feel about the game, I find myself scrolling Netflix rather than clicking on GW2 icon. I’m sort of seeking advice but mainly opinions (that’s why I posted this on general discussion rather than new player advice) if people relate to my own experiences. Don’t get me wrong, there’s lots of stuff I love about this game, but I’m having issues with general gameplay I have never found in a MMO before. And above all, this is not a rant. I’ll list my personal dislikes below. Please feel free to give me advice and ur opinion on the matter.

1. Quest system is inconsistent and irrational. I’ve mainly played SWtOR with it’s simple and straightforward questline. GW2’s weird quest system forces me to open up google and search for effective methods to lvl as I’d like to advance in the main storyline. The inconsistency is the main issue I’m having with the system. Like main questline number 2 requires u to be around lvl 3 (not exact numbers, just an example) and main questline number 3 requires u to be around lvl 8. And now I have to search random quests for 5 lvls in order to continue? And I have to switch to other race’s starting areas to get those 5 lvls? Great!

2. Movement from place A to place B is TERRIBLY slow. This becomes an issue for me while I’m questing. I find myself going between quest locations way more than actually doing the quests.

3. I somehow find the game to be a bit… Slow paced. This may very well be because I am still rly low lvled but I’m used to having 15-20 active skills and checking on different buffs while kiting and dodging. I just like action in my MMOs.

Once again, there are lots of things I love in this game, such as high diversity of weaponry to choose from and the diverse trait and boon system. Those things I listed above just irritate me too much to actually enjoy my stay in the world of Tyria. My mission is not to rant how this game sucks, I am just looking for advice and discussion.

P.S. English is not my mother tongue so I pardon for the grammatic errors I’ve definetely made in my thread.
